Who you are

You are a strategic and detail-oriented HR professional with a passion for compensation and benefits. You thrive on creating programs and processes that enhance the employee experience, ensure compliance, and drive operational efficiency across a large, distributed network of nearly 600 dental practices nationwide. Analytical and solutions-focused, you excel at interpreting data, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to support People Managers and practice teams.

As a Compensation & Benefits Specialist, you play a pivotal role in supporting our practices by ensuring the accurate, efficient, and compliant administration of compensation and benefits programs. You focus exclusively on practice employees, providing consultative guidance, data analysis, and process improvement support that strengthens operational effectiveness and elevates the employee journey. Proactive, collaborative, and adaptable, you take ownership of your work while partnering across teams to implement best-in-class HR practices. By bringing innovative approaches to problem-solving, you help shape HR programs that drive meaningful impact, create brilliant experiences, and contribute to the success and growth of our organization. The successful candidate will work on-site 4 days a week from our Toronto office at 181 Bay Street and 1 day a week in their home office.

In this role, you will

  • Administer and oversee benefits programs, including leave management, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service delivery for practice team members.

  • Provide consultative guidance to practices and employees on compensation and benefits policies, practices, and employment agreements.

  • Respond to compensation and benefits inquiries, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders as needed.

  • Support compensation programs, including annual salary reviews, variable pay, and other rewards initiatives.

  • Maintain Total Rewards metrics, reporting, and analysis to inform business decisions and continuous improvement.

  • Lead testing and validation of compensation and benefits systems during processes such as pay reviews and benefits re-enrollment.

  • Analyze data, trends, and stakeholder feedback to identify process improvements and enhance service delivery.

  • Conduct regular audits and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance across all compensation and benefits records.

  • Identify and resolve system and process issues, proposing improvements and coordinating solutions with key stakeholders.

  • Support ongoing maintenance, testing, and updates within Workday and related HR systems.

  • Act as a subject matter expert for practice-level compensation and benefits inquiries, providing guidance and education to People Managers and team members.

  • Drive continuous improvement by leveraging metrics, automation opportunities, and feedback to streamline processes.

  • Perform other compensation, benefits, and administrative duties as assigned.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 3–5 years of Human Resources experience, with a focus in Compensation and Benefits; experience supporting field or practice-based employees is an asset.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and HR systems (Workday experience preferred).

  • Working knowledge of compensation structures, incentive programs, and corporate benefits administration.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret, synthesize, and present data effectively.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across all levels of the organization.

  • Customer service-oriented approach with empathy and professionalism.

  • Adaptable and proactive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
