The Opportunity
Our People & Culture function is instrumental to StickerYou’s ongoing success and the individual in this role will be an integral part of it. The HR team currently consists of the HR Manager (you in this role) and our HR Administrator. Your mandate will be to maintain and manage the HR team while collaborating with leadership to foster a positive, productive, and compliant work environment.
We’re seeking an experienced, proactive People & Culture Manager who can step into this interim role with confidence while our current manager is on maternity leave. (Mar – Oct 31, with potential for extension). In this hands-on management and advisory role, you will oversee all aspects of the HR function, supporting both leadership and employees across various people-related matters. Key measures of success for this individual will be ensuring continuity and stability within the People & Culture department during the transition period and maintaining the high standard of support both employees and management count on.
Responsibilities 

  • Talent Management and Acquisition:
    • Partner with our recruitment consultant to oversee talent acquisition activities and ensure timely hiring for open positions that supports our diverse and inclusive culture.
    • Partner with hiring managers to understand employee development and staffing needs, participate in interviews and ensure seamless onboarding for new hires.
  • Employee Engagement
    • Support the promotion and implementation of our Summer BBQ and Holiday Events and other important intitiatives which contribute to organizational effectiveness, such as Truth and Reconciliation Day.
    • Act as a strategic partner to leadership on all people-related matters and advise on organizational change, employee morale, and performance.
    • Provide guidance to leadership on the HR impact of business initiatives and policies.
    • Provide direct support for more complex issues and assist leadership to ensure policies are implemented fairly.
    • Coordinate quarterly “pulse check” culture survey, report findings to leadership and employees and recommend action as needed.
  • Compliance & Policies:
    • Ensure company policies and practices comply with legal regulations and industry standards while reflecting current employment trends and meeting business needs.
    • Regularly review, update, and communicate policies to employees, and provide guidance to leadership on compliance matters.
    • Handle any issues that arise related to employment law and regulations.
  • Performance Reviews and Management:
    • Manage the company’s performance review process, ensuring reviews are completed on time, providing coaching to managers, and offering support to employees on performance improvement and development goals. Work with leadership to ensure the process is aligned with business objectives and employee growth.
  • Health & Safety:
    • Lead the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC). Collaborate with H&S Consultant and HR team to support our participation in WSIB’s Excellence Program to maintain a safe workplace. Ensure safety protocols are followed, facilitate training, conduct safety audits, and address any safety concerns raised by employees.
  • HRIS Management and Maintenance:
    • Oversee the management and maintenance of the Human Resource Information System (HRIS), ensuring accurate employee records, benefits management, and data reporting. Work with HR Administrator and Assistant to ensure smooth HRIS operations and support the HR team in utilizing the system effectively.
  • Payroll Administration:
    • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in collaboration with the HR Administrator and Finance team. Oversee employee benefits and compensation administration and any payroll inquiries. Handle issues related to compensation and bonus discrepancies.
  • Discipline and Terminations:
    • Provide guidance on discipline matters, ensuring that disciplinary processes are fair, consistent, and in line with company policies. Manage terminations in accordance with legal requirements, minimizing risk and ensuring a respectful process for all parties.
  • ​​​​​​​ Additional HR Responsibilities as required by the Chief Financial Officer:
    • Provide strategic support to the CFO on various people-related projects, including budget planning for compensation and benefits, forecasting headcount, and addressing ad-hoc HR needs.

The experience we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Human Resources Management or a related field. CHRP/ CHRL designation is an asset.
  • Proven experience as a People & Culture Manager or similar HR role.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian employment laws, HR best practices, and industry standards.
  • Ability to manage a small HR team and work effectively in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a positive, proactive approach.
  • High level of discretion and professionalism in handling confidential matters.
  • High degree of proficiency and adaptability with HRIS systems
  • Proficient in G Suite (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Sheets and Google Meet) and Zoom.
