Position Summary: 

We are currently looking for an experienced Canadian payroll professional to join our team full-time. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will utilize your knowledge and expertise to administer Canadian payroll and ensure best practices are being employed. If you are driven to make complex processes efficient and possess strong communication skills, then we would love to hear from you! 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manage and execute end-to-end payroll processing for Canadian employees (hourly and salaried) using Rippling and ADP WorkForce Now (WFN)
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll disbursements, tax withholdings, and deductions
  • Administer payroll taxes, deductions, direct deposits, and adjustments, ensuring compliance with the Ministry of Finance, CRA and provincial laws.
  • Stay current on National and Provincial payroll laws, implementing changes as needed
  • Prepare timely termination packages (ROEs), year-end employee tax slips and forms (T4s, T2200), and submit government filings 
  • Oversee payroll audits, ensuring internal controls and compliance
  • Preparation of journal entries, benefit reconciliations and working papers for applicable accounts, including variance analysis
  • Lead payroll system optimization and implementation to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field
  • PCP or CPM certification 
  • 5+ years experience with full cycle, end to end payroll processing 
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now or Rippling payroll applications is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated understanding of payroll principles, practices, legislations and procedures
  • Good data entry and computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent decision making, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
  • Detail oriented and strong sense of accountability in meeting committed deadlines
  • Experience with an ERP system such as NetSuite would be an asset
