With a strategic focus on both acquiring and issuing businesses, we are building a scalable payments platform that supports merchants, partners, and financial institutions across Canada.


We are seeking a Payment Operations Manager to lead the operational management of our payment infrastructure across acquiring and issuing services. This role will oversee settlement, reconciliation, transaction exception handling, chargebacks and disputes, operational controls, and cross-functional collaboration while ensuring operational efficiency and scalability as the business grows.


The successful candidate will bring strong knowledge of the Canadian payments ecosystem and hands-on experience managing payment operations within fintech, payment processors, financial institutions, or card programs.


How you will contribute

Payment Operations Management

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of payment processing activities across acquiring and issuing workflows.
  • Manage the transaction lifecycle including authorization support, clearing, funding, settlement tracking, refunds, reversals, and exception handling.
  • Coordinate operational incident response and resolve payment processing issues and escalations.

Settlement & Reconciliation

  • Own daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation processes across banks, processors, card networks, and internal ledgers.
  • Investigate and resolve settlement breaks, funding discrepancies, and operational exceptions.
  • Partner with Finance to ensure accurate reporting and support month-end operational close.

Chargebacks, Disputes & Exceptions

  • Oversee chargeback, dispute, refund, and exception workflows.
  • Monitor dispute trends and implement process improvements to reduce operational losses.
  • Ensure compliance with card network rules and partner requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product, Technology, Risk, Compliance, and Finance teams to support operational stability and product launches.
  • Support operational onboarding for new merchants, partners, and card programs.
  • Coordinate with external partners such as processors, sponsor banks, and payment networks.

Performance Analytics & Optimization

  • Define and track operational KPIs including settlement accuracy, reconciliation break rate, dispute turnaround time, and SLA performance.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, workflow optimization, and operational efficiency improvements.
  • Support the development of scalable processes that enable business growth.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop a high-performing operations team responsible for settlement, reconciliation, and payment support.
  • Establish clear workflows, KPIs, and training programs to ensure operational excellence.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.

What you bring to the table

  • 5+ years of experience in payments, fintech, acquiring, issuing, or financial services operations.
  • 2+ years of team leadership or management experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with settlement, reconciliation, chargebacks/disputes, refunds, and payment exception management.
  • Solid understanding of the Canadian payments ecosystem.
  • Experience working with processors, sponsor banks, card networks, or payment infrastructure providers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple operational priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in both acquiring and issuing payment environments.
  • Experience with payment operations automation and workflow optimization.
  • Familiarity with card network rules and payment regulatory frameworks in Canada.
  • Experience working within high-growth fintech or regulated payment institutions.
