About The Role

Hi, I’m Brandon, Head of Operations at Loop, and I’m hiring a Payment Operations Associate to help manage, scale and optimize our core payment operations as we continue to build Loop.

This role is an onsite position at our downtown Toronto office (Bay and Bloor).

Where You Come In

You’ll be responsible for executing and improving Loop’s core payment operations, ensuring customer money moves accurately, efficiently, and on time.

This role focuses squarely on money movement, reconciliations, reporting, and operational process improvement, working closely with Finance, Product, Engineering, Customer Support, and banking partners.

What You'll Be Doing

Payment Operations & Money Movement

  • Oversee daily execution of payment settlements across internal accounts, banking partners, network providers, and customers.
  • Investigate and resolve payment exceptions, failures, and returns to minimize customer impact.
  • Monitor liquidity levels and projected settlement volumes to ensure sufficient funds for daily payouts.
  • Oversee chargebacks from customers disputing transactions, ensuring the ledger is balanced (customer communication is handled by our Customer Support team).
  • Act as a primary operational point of contact for banking partners and payment processors.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant customer money movement.

Financial Reconciliation & Reporting

  • Perform daily three-way reconciliations between internal ledgers, processor reports, and bank statements.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve reconciliation variances.
  • Support internal controls to safeguard company and customer funds.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly operational reports and KPIs.
  • Support month-end close by preparing journals related to transaction fees and operational balances.
  • Assist with audits, reviews, and information requests from banks and external stakeholders.

Process Improvement & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Create and maintain clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for payment workflows.
  • Identify manual inefficiencies and partner with Data, Product, and Engineering teams on automation initiatives.
  • Ensuring that all new payment features and operational tools are tested and work as intended for the end user.
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure payment operations support relevant business objectives

Desired Qualities, Skills, and Experience

  • 3-4 years of experience in payment operations, financial operations, or accounting—ideally in a FinTech or startup environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data.
  • Proficiency in SQL or equivalent
  • Experience with reconciliations, money movement, and operational reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-changing environment.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and taking ownership of outcomes.
  • Clear communicator who collaborates well across teams.

What's in it for you?

  • Be part of a high-growth FinTech building global financial infrastructure.
  • Make a real, visible impact on core business operations.
  • Opportunity for career growth as Loop scales.
  • Collaborative, fast-paced startup culture.
