About Pear

Pear VC is a venture capital firm that partners with founders from day zero, often before an idea, product, or team exists. We are former founders and operators who get in the trenches with founders, providing the hands-on mentorship, recruiting support, and operational insights needed to turn a raw idea into a category-defining company. We focus on supporting founders to nail the fundamentals of product-market fit long before the rest of the world takes notice. Our early bets on visionary builders have grown into industry leaders like DoorDash, Gusto, and Guardant Health.

We’re looking for an Investor to connect with world-class builders, help us find the next generation of iconic founders, and welcome them into the Pear community. This role is focused on finding extraordinary builders at the earliest possible point of their founding journey and connecting them to the Pear ecosystem for investment.

The Role:

This is a high-agency role focused on one singular mission: finding the best future founders before anyone else does. You will be the face of Pear in different communities, tasked with mapping the future founder ecosystems and building deep, authentic relationships with the next generation of founders.

While this role will focus mainly on sourcing and community building, you will be mentored and trained by one of the Investment Partners at Pear. This role will participate in weekly Deal Flow conversations and allow someone access to some of the leading early stage investors in the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Build authentic relationships with current founders, engineers, researchers, professors, and recent grads with the goal of finding the who are the best future founders.

  • You should be attending, hosting, and organizing events that will steer these builders to participate in either our PearX program and lead to seed dealflow

  • You will act as the connective tissue between these builders and Pear, making sure we’re the first call when someone is thinking about starting a company.

  • You will be able to select, leverage and manage a group of student Fellows who can assist you in being the eyes and ears of campus while also organizing and running any programs to attract the top builders

  • There is no perfect way to do this job so you will have to find creative ways to connect, and get access to these people

Qualifications:

  • Deep passion for Sourcing: You have a good taste of what exceptional people are like and you genuinely love the "hunt" for talent

  • Proprietary Network & Respect: You are a figure that the founder network will have great respect for. You speak their language, understand their world, and have the credibility to be their first call when they start something new.

  • High Autonomy & Trusted Judgment: We trust you to work autonomously. This includes having full confidence in your independent judgment to identify "who" is a great founder and the agency to move deals forward without hand-holding.

  • Builder at heart: You have experience building things as a previous founder, early at a startup, or an organizer of some group. You’re exceedingly resourceful, and consistently find ways to do more with less.

  • Relationship builder: You’re approachable, optimistic, authentic, and easy to connect with.

  • Reliable and hyper organized: No matter how busy life gets, you don’t drop balls or leave people hanging.

  • Curious by nature: You operate from first principles, dive deep into how things work, and are constantly exploring new ideas, products, and markets with open eyes.

  • You do whatever it takes: You’re a high-agency problem solver. You break through walls to get stuff done and step up without hesitation.

  • Passionate to be great: You want to be known in the industry as someone who can find the most elite humans and be known as the one who found the next category defining company

Nice-to-haves:

  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent.

  • 5+ years of professional experience in the startup/tech world

  • Former venture backed founder

  • Active involvement in on-campus startup communities.
