We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive PACS Administrator to manage the daily operations, performance, and support of our Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). This role is vital to ensuring high system availability, smooth radiology workflows, and timely access to diagnostic imaging across the organization. You will work closely with MRI Technologists, Radiologists, and IT teams to provide configuration, troubleshooting, and user support for our imaging systems.

The candidate must be based in Toronto or the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)

What You’ll Do

  • Monitor the performance, stability, and storage of PACS systems and troubleshoot issues proactively.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for PACS-related technical support for radiologists, technologists, and other imaging staff.
  • Configure and maintain DICOM modality connections, routing rules, worklists, hanging protocols, and image display settings.
  • Configure, audit and maintain access control rules consistent with principle of least privilege
  • Perform routine system tasks such as archiving, purging, backup verification, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to ensure network, server, and storage infrastructure supporting PACS is performing optimally.
  • Coordinate with vendors for system updates, bug fixes, patches, and escalated technical support.
  • Maintain documentation of system configurations, SOPs, and change control logs.
  • Assist with the onboarding of new modalities and ensure DICOM conformance and proper workflow integration.
  • Support user training and orientation for PACS functionality and best practices.
  • Participate in quality assurance initiatives and compliance audits related to imaging systems.

What You’ll Bring

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health IT, Radiologic Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in PACS administration or imaging informatics support.
  • Strong working knowledge of DICOM standards, modality worklists, and image routing.
  • Experience with one or more PACS systems (e.g., Sectra, GE, Philips, Fuji, Intelerad, or Orthanc).
  • Familiarity with radiology workflows, including MR, CT, X-ray, and teleradiology environments.
  • Basic understanding of HL7, RIS integration, and radiology reporting workflows.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Highly Desired Skills

  • Prior experience supporting MRI environments or high-volume diagnostic imaging centers.
  • Experience with enterprise image viewers, zero-footprint viewers, or mobile radiology tools.
  • Familiarity with Windows Server, Linux, SQL, and backup/archive systems used in imaging environments.
  • Experience coordinating system upgrades, migrations, or vendor-driven maintenance events.
  • Certification in PACS or Imaging Informatics (e.g., CIIP or vendor-specific certifications) is a plus.
