SUMMARY

MARA is seeking a skilled and motivated Financial Analyst to support the Operations and Energy Transformation department. The Financial Analyst will provide critical insights through data-driven financial analysis, modeling, and reporting. This position requires a candidate with strong financial acumen, an understanding of cryptocurrency economics, and experience in a fast-paced, data-centric environment.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  1. Financial Analysis of Operations:
    • Develop and maintain detailed financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning specific to data center operations.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for Operations leadership, tracking key metrics and variance analysis against forecasts.
    • Conduct sensitivity analyses to assess the impact of various factors on profitability, such as Bitcoin price volatility, mining difficulty, and energy costs.
  2. Profitability and Cost Analysis:
    • Analyze key cost drivers for data centers, including electricity rates, hardware depreciation, maintenance costs, and capital expenditures.
    • Support initiatives to optimize operating costs and improve data center efficiency by identifying cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies.
    • Work with operations teams to track mining specific metrics such as hash rate, power usage, and machine uptime, integrating these metrics into financial forecasts.


      3. Strategic Financial Modeling:

    • Create and maintain comprehensive financial models to evaluate the profitability and ROI of data center equipment & infrastructure purchases, facility expansions, and other strategic investments.
    • Perform scenario analysis on various business opportunities and challenges, including Bitcoin halving events, energy price fluctuations, and regulatory impacts.
    • Collaborate with the strategic planning team to assess the financial feasibility of growth and diversification initiatives.


      4. Risk Management & Compliance:

    • Identify and evaluate risks related to cryptocurrency market fluctuations, regulatory changes, and operational disruptions.
    • Support internal audits and work with compliance teams to ensure adherence to financial reporting standards and regulations.
    • Contribute to the development of financial risk management policies that mitigate exposure to cryptocurrency volatility.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. MBA or CFA designation is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, with experience in cryptocurrency, blockchain, technology, or energy sectors preferred.
  • Proficient in financial modeling and data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, and Power BI. Familiarity with cryptocurrency mining software and blockchain analysis tools is an advantage.
  • Understanding of Bitcoin mining economics, blockchain technology, and cryptocurrency market trends.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of creating actionable insights from complex financial and operational data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex financial data in a clear, concise manner.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business publications. Ability to draft reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
