Role Overview
Focusing on people, safety, compliance, service and efficiency/profit maximization, the Operations Director will provide leadership and oversee overall operations for the business unit.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage interaction of all the departments in Ontario to ensure most cost and time efficient workflow
- Manage proactive and reactive safety measures to show continuous improvement in safety performance and meet business unit (BU) KPI’s.
- Manage all necessary compliance activities for BU to ensure regulatory requirements are adhered to
- Provide superior customer service by developing customer focused team and leaders at all levels, and managing proactive and reactive safety measures to show continuous improvement in service performance and meet business unit KPI’s
- Manage quality control standards and measures to achieve target outcomes
- Manage all cost inputs to ensure best value operations performance
- Work closely with the sales team to strategize growth and maximize EBITDA performance of the BU
- Streamlined operations such as process flow mapping, time in motion studies, risk assessments, and other continuous improvement functions are conducted as needed to improve the BU performance.
- Working with Transport Manager, ensure proper routing to maintain efficient service
- Review operating reports and liaise with Plant Supervisors and Leads as appropriate to direct the resolution of operational and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
- Ensure preventative maintenance programs for the site are developed and adhered to
- Hiring, training, and developing of all operations employees
- Foster and maintain a positive “team” relationship between operations and other departments
Skills and Qualifications:
- 3-8 years of leadership experience within relevant role
- Proven success with continuous improvement processes related to quality, cost savings and operational efficiencies
- Intermediate word and excel skills for reporting purposes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
