Job Description

Our Fortune 100 financial services client is seeking an Operational Risk Analyst. This role will support the Retail Payment Operations and Risk function by contributing to the development and execution of a Target Operating Model. The purpose of the role is to develop and execute strategies to manage fraud risk and scams, optimize payment authorization and authentication performance, deliver key payments operations projects and initiatives, improve payments resiliency, address operational issues and resiliency, and increase effectiveness and efficiency of payment operational processes.

The Details:

  • Location: Downtown Toronto, ON (3 days per week onsite required)
  • Duration: Approximately a 12-month consulting project with the possibility of extension

What you’ll do:

  • Work directly with Director, Retail Payments and team in development of a recommended functional framework, including providing insights on best-in-class approaches, leading to the development of a target operating model
    • Development of governance and oversight model
    • Interaction model development with core partners and stakeholders
    • Introduction of go-forward controls, processes, and procedures to effectively identify, address and manage gaps related to payments resiliency, payments operational risk and resiliency, and client impact
  • Identify control gaps related to payment resiliency in current processes and procedures and develop strategic and tactical recommendations to mitigate risk.
  • Work with team on developing a framework for business architecture (inventory of data in payment systems and tools, types of data, volume and frequency, source systems, etc.).
  • Work with team on tactical activities to support implementation (support discovery sessions and gather any documentation of current state, gathering insights on best practices or recommendations).
  • Create dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of payment resiliency and payment operational support (i.e. authorization rates, decline rates, chargeback ratios, productivity, cost/ benefit measures of operational support, etc.).
  • Work with team to summarize/ outline gaps in current team mandate and structure.
  • Prepare supporting artifacts for presentations to stakeholder groups and support the development of product roadmap and action plan (i.e., document discussions, manage action and decision logs, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Relationship Management experience
  • 5-10 years’ experience in the payments domain with demonstrated performance in target operating model development, governance and oversight implementation and scorecard/ KPL development
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience with SQL and Python is an asset
  • Experience in presenting to various audiences including working groups/ peers, as well as executive stakeholders
  • Analytical mindset, ability to gather relevant insights from various stakeholders and consolidate into summaries
  • Ability to apply strong judgement in managing exposure to sensitive/ confidential business details
