The Opportunity
The Nurse Reviewer is responsible for reviewing Statement of Health applications for Group Life and Disability insurance. You will review submitted forms for medical details and order additional medical such as paramedical exams and attending physician statements. Upon receipt of medical documents, you will review against our underwriting manuals to determine if applications can be approved or declined. Key Responsibilities
- Review assigned cases and examine Statement of Health Applications to determine approval, denial, pending status, or need for additional medical information for Group Life and Disability insurance.
- Independently research and investigate medical details, including conditions and medications, to support sound underwriting decisions.
- Maintain consistency and quality standards by utilizing job aids, work instructions, and guidance from various supervisory roles within a large team environment.
- Demonstrate basic business acumen with strong written and verbal communication skills and proficiency across multiple systems and technology resources.
- Show willingness to receive feedback, learn, adapt, and take on additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 1-2 years of relevant business experience.
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Certification.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Ability to work across multiple computer monitors and programs.
- Ability to use AI approved tools to support routine tasks such as drafting, summarizing, organizing information, and improving day-to-day efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous medical underwriting experience with familiarity with utilization forms.
- Strong clinical assessment and analytical skills with the ability to interpret medical records and apply medical knowledge to business decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex medical information into sound, data-driven underwriting recommendations.
