ABOUT THE ROLE

The Network Engineer II role will be responsible for providing strong technical leadership in the planning, design and implementation of network infrastructure and services nationally across Hut 8.

Some of the key responsibilities you should expect are the following:

  • Develops detailed network designs in the following areas: on-premises data (LAN, WAN, Data Center), and Network Security
  • Works with configurations associated with Layer 2 switching (VLANs, STP, vPC, LACP), Layer 3 routing (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), Network Security (ACLs, NATs, IPsec VPNs, SSL remote access VPNs), and QoS
  • Create methods of procedure to implement MPLS routers, Ethernet switches, Routers.
  • Participates in new product/service development and provide recommendations.
  • Monitors changes in technology and make assessments on the Hut 8 network.
  • Provides network project scope, drawing, configuration, MOP and other related documents; helps drive the execution of engineering initiatives, works collaboratively with project managers and customers on designs and services.

ABOUT YOU

  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical / Computer / Software Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or equivalent experience.
  • Thorough understanding of service provider IP/MPLS network standards and technologies including but not limited to: MPLS, VPLS, IS-IS, OSPF, BGP, IPv6, STP, QoS, VoIP, cloud, optical networking.
  • Proven experience planning and deploying an IP carrier grade infrastructure.
  • CCNP is required.
  • Network-oriented automation and tool familiarity (Python, NETCONF/YANG models).
  • Troubleshooting skills in lab and production networks.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Proven planning and IP engineering skills.
  • Strong problem solving and reasoning skills (critical thinking).
  • Excellent analytical and project management, reporting, organization, and documentation skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of telecommunications and related industries.
  • Up to date in current IP Network technology trends.
  • Self-motivated, driven, and adaptable.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong team player who can work effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, across functions.

ABOUT THE WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is remote. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The salary range for this position is between $75,000 and $95,000 CAD annually,
