Job Description:
Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking an experienced and inspiring Director of Systems Engineering to lead our West Coast Systems Engineering organization across campus, data center, and routing networking domains. This role is ideal for a technical leader who thrives in fast‑moving environments, builds exceptional teams, and helps customers modernize their networks through AI‑driven operations, automation, and edge‑to‑cloud architectures.
You will guide strategy, grow top technical talent, and work directly with some of the most influential customers and partners on the West Coast. This is a high‑impact, visible leadership role at the center of HPE’s Networking transformation.
What You’ll Do
Lead Technical Strategy
Define and execute the SE strategy across campus networking, data center fabrics, and routing architectures.
Drive customer adoption of modern designs including AI‑driven wired/wireless, EVPN/VXLAN, unified cloud management, and scalable routing.
Partner closely with Sales, Product, and Engineering to influence roadmaps and deliver innovative end‑to‑end solutions.
Develop and Grow a High‑Performing Team
Lead a talented Systems Engineering organization with deep expertise across networking domains.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, inclusion, and continuous technical growth.

Engage with Strategic Customers
Act as a senior technical leader for major enterprise, cloud-edge, and large‑scale customers across the West Coast.

Drive Operational Excellence
Improve SE productivity, coverage, and technical program consistency across the region.

What You Bring
Proven leadership experience in Systems Engineering or technical architecture roles.
Deep expertise in campus networking, data center networking (EVPN/VXLAN, leaf‑spine), and enterprise routing/SD‑WAN.
Ability to build and inspire high‑performing technical teams.
Strong communication, executive presence, and strategic thinking.
Experience guiding customers through large-scale network transformations.
Formal education is valued, but real‑world experience, leadership impact, and technical depth matter most.

– United States of America: Annual Salary USD 269,000 - 573,000 in California // 236,500 - 573,000 in Oregon & Texas & Washington
This range reflects the minimum to maximum combined base and target-level sales compensation that would be paid if the hire performs at 100% of their sales plan. Of that on-target pay amount, the mix of base salary and target-level sales compensation is 75%/25%. The expected salary/wage range for this position is provided below.
