The Opportunity

We're looking for the Wavemakers of tomorrow.

Alphawave Semi enables tomorrow’s future by accelerating the critical data communication at the heart of our digital world – from seamless video streaming to AI to the metaverse and much more. Our technology powers product innovation in the most data-demanding industries today, including data centers, networking, storage, artificial intelligence, 5G wireless infrastructure, and autonomous vehicles. Customers partner with us for mission-critical data communication, our innovative technologies, and our proven track record. Together, we enable the next generation of digital technology.

Mixed-Signal Engineer, CTO Office

As a mixed-signal engineer, you'll do pathfinding R&D in our CTO Office to define and develop integrated circuits for the next generation of our products. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in the design of 100+Gbps/lane electrical and optical transceiver circuits in advanced (7nm or below) CMOS technologies. They'll know how to push the limits of advanced technology with practical design approaches. You'll work directly with the CTO on solutions that scale with our customers' emerging demands for AI and infrastructure computing and networking. Together with other members of the CTO Office and our central engineering groups, you'll develop complete optical and electrical connectivity solutions, including designs in the world's most advanced CMOS technology nodes.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop high-performance and high-speed analog and mixed-signal circuits for our next-generation products, delivering speeds beyond current 200Gbps/lane standards
  • Evaluate new CMOS technologies to establish their performance limits
  • Define specifications for components, circuits, and signal processing features in next-generation products
  • Develop and simulate transistor-level implementations and corresponding behavioural models
  • Drive physical design to produce layout views that meet performance targets
  • Engage and collaborate with other members of the CTO Office and our central engineering groups to turn your ideas into prototypes
  • Regularly report progress to your peers and management, collecting feedback and providing it to others
  • Provide input to our CTO, product marketing, and engineering teams on the expected performance and required features of next-generation solutions

What You'll Need

  • Master's or PhD degree with 5 years relevant experience
  • Experience in analog mixed-signal design of 100+Gbps serial transceivers
  • Hands-on experience in advanced CMOS technologies (7nm or below)
  • Background in key analog mixed-signal circuit blocks such as oscillators, sample-and-hold circuits, broadband amplifiers and equalizers
  • Experience in IC development from definition to production, including layout supervision, test planning, and lab characterization
  • Knowledge of techniques that use digital circuits to improve analog circuit performance (e.g. calibration and adaptation)
  • Knowledge of DSP-based optical and electrical transceiver architectures
  • Familiarity with lab equipment and testing
  • Ability to work with system engineers to produce accurate circuit models for architectural exploration (e.g. Matlab, Python)
  • Ability to synthesize and analyze results, draw conclusions, and make recommendations in clear and convincing reports

Personal attributes:
Can-do attitude. Strong team player. Curious, creative and a problem solver. Execution and results-oriented. Self-driven and highly accountable. Organized and efficient. Good communication skills.
