The Engineering Services group in Sudbury, ON provides mechanical and electrical design for all types of buildings in the commercial, institutional, recreational and multi-residential market. Our clients and projects and varied and diverse. The office is a high energy workspace where we work closely as a team to meet the requirements and deadlines of our clients.
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with experience in Mechanical design for many types of buildings. This is a position that will allow for growth in leadership of a Mechanical design team.
Your role within the team
- Provide mechanical systems design leadership and project management for design mandates throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead or actively participate in, and document, site surveys of existing systems, meetings with clients, contractors and other consultants.
- Prepare design briefs, schematics, project documents and perform all required engineering calculations.
- Lead production of all required engineering documents in schematic design, design development and working drawings in collaboration with other team members.
- Supervise, mentor and train junior designers and CAD/Revit operators.
- Review shop drawings, RFI responses and quotations from contractors.
- Work with contractors to quickly resolve on site issues and ensure contractor’s conformance to design requirements.

The ideal candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) in the Province of Ontario.
- 7-10 years design experience in the buildings sector. Experience in HVAC, Plumbing and Drainage and Fire protection. Design of buildings with an emphasis of Health Care and Institutional work.
- Demonstrate experience building and maintaining long term relationships with clients (i.e. understanding client objectives, anticipating and meeting client needs, and growing the business).
- Computer Skills – MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, AutoCAD, etc.).
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills. Fluent in English language - speaking, reading & writing. French is an asset but not required.
