Job Responsibilities:
The Materials & Logistics Coordinator at Co-Ex-Tec is responsible for ensuring the timely and efficient supply of materials required for production. This role involves planning and coordinating material requirements, managing inventory levels, assisting with traffic and customs requirements and working closely with suppliers and internal departments to support production schedules and minimize disruptions.
  • Process MRP and review accuracy of supplier requirements.
  • Issue material releases to suppliers. Monitor and manage vendor shipments to ensure release adherence and maintain appropriate inventory levels at all times. Trouble shoot and escalate over and under shipments from suppliers. Utilize system-based reports to identify risk and provide update on status daily. Proactively manage potential shortages.
  • Review inventory levels of parts to ensure that they are within department/company goal. Maintain Inventory accuracy including cycle counting where applicable.
  • Determine correct lead times, safety stock levels and other MRP parameters. Review and modify to correct for any issues/changes to business.
  • Determine space requirements and participate in warehouse design.
  • Complete all CR/CN and APQP/TRAXX-related activities. Effectively manage Engineering/BOM changes to ensure clean break point and minimize obsolescence.
  • Review and verify any slow moving and service requirements to avoid over stock or obsolescence. Notify manager and program management of any mandatory minimum buy quantities prior to issuing release.
  • Complete expedite alert form and forward to appropriate personnel as required.
  • Manage and document any supplier shipping discrepancies. Issue and follow-up on QPFs and related corrective actions/recovery plans.
  • Cross train and provide coverage for other material planner whenever required
  • Arrange any special pick-up/deliveries.
  • Work with Receiving on prompt entry of packing slips daily.
  • Update and report out on Department Meeting KOI's
  • Responsible for overall traffic and customs requirements
  • Check and approve freight/courier invoices; check and verify Canadian Customs Broker entries
  • Arrange inbound/outbound, expedite and third-party shipments upon request from various departments
  • Dispatch local driver and/or arrange pickups of various types, couriers, LTL, TL, local cartage etc.
  • Obtain expedite alert forms from various departments and chart inbound premium freight
  • Negotiate transportation rates with vendors/freight carriers
  • Negotiate discounts and special rates with carriers and customs brokers
  • Prepare export documentation for returns, machinery, etc.
  • Monitor CTPAT business partners for CTPAT compliance using Status Verification Interface (SVI) in the CTPAT portal.
  • Completes Export reports using Canadian Export Reporting System (CERS) and create monthly summary report for export shipments in CERS portal
  • Participate in month-end and year-end physical inventory counts and valuation
  • Ensure compliance to QMS (IATF16949), EMS (ISO14001), and security (CTPAT&PIP) requirements.
  • Complete all tasks related to APQP, ChangeX, Trax & GCAR and Division's Mafact program.
  • Ensure, with the cooperation of other Co-Ex-Tec departments and Corporate that the division achieves and maintains the highest possible Customer rating for satisfaction; strive for zero defects in all areas of the business.
  • Follow all department standardized work instructions/procedures.
  • Initiate and/or participate in continuous improvement activities, ranging from job specific to Plant wide CET initiatives.
  • Attend authorized training in order to develop and/or maintain relevant job-related knowledge, techniques, skills, and/or certification.
  • May be required to carry out job duties and responsibilities in a work environment that may include, but is not limited to, varying levels of noise and/or temperature.
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested by Management.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
  • Secondary School Diploma, or equivalent
  • Post-Secondary Certification in Production & Inventory Management (CPIM - APICS), preferred
  • Knowledge of freight/transportation, customs rules/classifications; Customs Brokers Certificate, preferable
  • 5+ years job-related experience, preferably in an automotive environment
  • Well-developed communication, organizational, interpersonal and analytical abilities
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in fast paced/high urgency environment.
  • Sound computer skills, including knowledge of software in current use
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing, an asset
  • Fluent English in reading, writing & communication.
