The Marketing Specialist is a dynamic storyteller and strategic executor responsible for supporting the marketing efforts of SQ1 District—a bold, retail-anchored mixed-use community that integrates residential rentals with retail, culture, and community. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, this role plays a key part in shaping the district’s identity and driving engagement across digital, physical, and experiential touchpoints.

This role is ideal for those who can blend creativity with organization, ensuring that on-the-ground marketing reflects the vibrancy, diversity, and unique personality of the district.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:

  • Coordinate editorial calendar and create content for the district’s target audiences, including photography, copywriting and influencer partnerships,

  • Create and manage promotional calendars, campaign toolkits, and marketing plans in collaboration with internal and external partners

  • Support with execution of events and activations from annual marketing plan, including specialty leasing initiatives, in-centre installations, and seasonal experiences—by coordinating vendors, creative, and logistics

  • Partner with digital team to manage and maintain the SQ1 District website and digital directories; ensure accuracy and alignment with brand tone and campaign priorities

  • Proactively communicate with retail partners to support marketing initiatives, promotions, events, and performance tracking. Including social media campaigns and performance reporting

  • Oversee social listening and support public relations efforts to strengthen community engagement and brand reputation.

  • Track and process invoices, reconcile budgets, and maintain PO documentation for third-party suppliers and vendors

  • Contribute to award submissions and assist with reporting and post-campaign analysis

  • Assist with development of community partnerships and sponsorship opportunities

  • Monitor industry trends, emerging platforms, and competitor activity to help evolve SQ1 District’s marketing strategy

To succeed in this role, you have:

  • University/College Degree or Diploma in Marketing, Communications, Design; or a related field

  • 3+ years of marketing experience, ideally in mixed-use, real estate, retail, or lifestyle environments

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a knack for compelling copy and storytelling

  • Proficiency in content creation tools such as Adobe Suite, Photoshop and website CMS including WordPress

  • Microsoft Office for tracking, planning, and reporting

  • Experience with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok), community engagement, and analytics tools

  • Flexible availability during key activation periods, including evenings and weekends as needed

  • Collaborative mindset, with a passion for connecting people and place through marketing
