The Eclipse Foundation is one of the world’s largest open source software foundations. With over 400 open source projects and collaborations including Open VSX, Adoptium, Jakarta EE, Eclipse IDE, and OpenHW, we serve a global community of millions of developers and more than 300 member organisations. Our mission is to empower developers, enable collaboration, and ensure user freedoms.
We are seeking a versatile Marketing Specialist to contribute across a broad range of marketing activities, including campaigns, content, systems, and reporting. This is a hands-on role focused on execution and enablement, helping ensure that marketing initiatives are well coordinated, measurable, and able to scale across a global, community-driven organisation. This is an existing role within our team.
The successful candidate will be comfortable shifting between planned initiatives and emerging needs, managing several workstreams at different stages, and delivering accurate, high-quality work within agreed timelines. They will use sound judgement to make progress with limited supervision, while communicating proactively, raising risks early, and seeking input when needed.
As a Marketing Specialist, you will contribute to the day-to-day execution of marketing initiatives across the Foundation and its working groups. You will work closely with marketing, membership, and community teams to help build, track, and improve campaigns, while maintaining reliable processes, usable data, and clear reporting. We value curiosity, ownership, collaboration, and a commitment to continuous learning and growth.
Location: This is a fully remote position. Canada is preferred, but other locations will be considered.
Salary Range: $70K - $77.5K.
Responsibilities
Campaign Execution & Reporting
  • Support the execution of marketing campaigns across email, web, and digital channels.
  • Assist with defining goals and success metrics for campaigns and programs.
  • Build and maintain basic dashboards and reports to track performance and outcomes.
  • Track, measure, and report on the results of digital marketing initiatives, and propose improvements based on data.
  • Support campaign tracking, documentation, and operational checklists.

Content, Events & Community Support
  • Develop and review website and digital marketing copy for clarity, consistency, and alignment with Eclipse Foundation messaging.
  • Collaborate with marketing, membership, and working group teams to support events, launches, and engagement initiatives.
  • Support operational aspects of community engagement initiatives, such as contributor badging and swag programs.

Marketing Operations & Systems
  • Administer and maintain marketing automation tools such as HubSpot, including workflows, emails, forms, landing pages, lists, and segmentation.
  • Ensure marketing data is accurate, well-organised, and usable for reporting and follow-up.
  • Document and continuously improve marketing operations processes and workflows.
  • Apply and support Eclipse Foundation policies, practices, and standards related to privacy, data protection, and communications.
Take on additional marketing-related tasks and projects as priorities and needs evolve.
Desired skills and experience
We are looking for a capable, motivated marketing professional with a generalist mindset and a strong sense of ownership. The ideal candidate brings a balance of execution skills, curiosity, and the ability to work effectively across multiple areas of marketing in a collaborative, distributed environment.
You may be a strong fit if you bring a mix of the following:
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in marketing, marketing operations, digital marketing, or a related role.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute marketing initiatives independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience working with marketing automation platforms, analytics tools, or campaign reporting, or a strong aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Google Analytics 4 certification or hands-on experience, including comfort working with modern, AI-assisted analytics and reporting tools.
  • Comfort using data and tools to support execution, reporting, and continuous improvement.
  • Practical understanding of generative AI tools, including basic prompt engineering to support research, analysis, content creation, or workflow efficiency.
  • Strong written communication skills, with attention to clarity, consistency, and tone.
  • Curiosity and openness to learning new platforms, workflows, and approaches.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders across distributed teams.
  • Positive, service-oriented approach and a collegial, professional working style.
  • Alignment with the Eclipse Foundation’s values of service, respect, collegiality, and professionalism.

Familiarity with open source communities or developer-focused organisations is a plus, but not required. We are ultimately looking for someone who will thrive in our culture, take ownership of their work, and grow with the role.
