Marketing Manager - Virgin Music Group

The team works four days a week from our award-winning creative campus located in Liberty Village, Toronto, and one day to work virtually.

Reporting to the Sr. Vice President – Head of Marketing North America, the Marketing Manager at Virgin Music Group Canada will be responsible for leading and executing innovative artist marketing campaigns across domestic and international markets. The Marketing Manager will act as the strategic and operational lead for artist projects, overseeing end-to-end campaign development while collaborating with internal departments, label partners, artists, managers, and external agencies. The ideal candidate is a creative, culturally connected, and commercially minded marketer with a strong understanding of the evolving music landscape, fan engagement, and digital marketing.

How You’ll Lead:

  • Lead and execute artist marketing campaigns from strategy development through launch and post-campaign analysis

  • Develop fan-first marketing strategies that drive artist awareness, audience engagement, streaming growth, and commercial success across digital and physical formats

  • Collaborate with artists, managers, label partners, and internal teams to create rollout plans aligned with artist brand positioning and long-term career goals

  • Manage local campaign strategy, timelines, budgets, creative development, and execution

  • Develop and oversee digital marketing initiatives including short-form content, influencer activations, creator partnerships, paid media campaigns, and emerging platform opportunities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with artists, managers, agencies, promoters, digital platforms, and third-party partners

  • Provide local marketing guidance and strategic support to label partners and distribution clients

  • Collaborate with global and local teams to ensure campaigns are aligned across territories while incorporating market-specific insights

  • Manage local marketing budgets effectively while maximizing return on investment

  • Identify and capitalize on cultural moments, viral trends, and emerging opportunities to maximize fan engagement and visibility.

  • Support DSP pitches, proposals, and business development initiatives for prospective clients and artist partnerships

  • Maintain a strong understanding of evolving music industry trends, digital platforms, audience behaviors, and emerging marketing technologies

  • Other duties and projects as assigned

What You Bring:

  • 4-6 years of marketing experience in the creative industry

  • Strong understanding of the music industry, including artist marketing, label operations, streaming platforms, audience development, and release strategies

  • Deep knowledge of digital marketing, social media, creator marketing, content strategy, and fan engagement best practices

  • Understanding of domestic and international music markets, media landscapes, and commercial opportunities

  • Experience developing and executing successful music marketing campaigns across multiple genres

  • Understanding of global music distribution structures and the independent music ecosystem

  • Experience with cross-promotional marketing, branding partnerships, and experiential campaigns is an asset

  • Working knowledge of paid media, CRM strategies, eCommerce integration, and first-party fan data collection

  • Experience using digital tools, analytics platforms, and marketing technologies to inform campaign decisions

Salary Range:

$70,000 - $80,000 CAD
