Role

Preserve and expand Lloyd’s relevance in the Canadian insurance and reinsurance marketplace.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Understand and promote Lloyd’s Commercial Strategy within the Canadian market.

  • Execute strategic initiatives that broaden Lloyd’s reach and create new growth opportunities. Current programs supporting this goal include Lloyd’s Boot Camp, Broker Academy, Lloyd’s Lab, and New Entrant prospects.

  • Support the Canadian Market Development team by enhancing relationships with key stakeholders - Managing Agents, brokers, local service companies, Coverholders and Open Market Correspondents, London market associations, Canadian industry trade associations,  and colleges/universities with risk management and insurance programs. Collaborate with colleagues to identify areas where Lloyd’s can support mutual success among stakeholders.

  • Work with senior colleagues to define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Canadian market development initiatives, track progress, and deliver actionable insights through reports and presentations.

  • Promote a clear understanding of Lloyd’s value proposition by leveraging the most effective communication channels. Ensure retail and wholesale brokers are informed, confident, and equipped to access Lloyd’s market efficiently.

  • Collaborate with Lloyd’s Communications, Academy and Events teams in the UK and Americas to design and deliver high-impact marketing campaigns, signature events, and conferences (e.g., RIMS, NICC, MTM). Integrate thought leadership content to reinforce Lloyd’s expertise and strengthen brand visibility across the Canadian market.

  • Deliver timely and relevant Canadian market insights to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Conduct comprehensive compliance reviews and due diligence for existing participants and onboarding new entrants, ensuring adherence to Lloyd’s standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Actively represent Lloyd’s in industry leadership opportunities or roles through association participation, thought leadership, talent development, and advocacy, while consistently modelling Lloyd’s shared values with colleagues and stakeholders.

Skills

  • Oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and capability in Microsoft Office tools.

  • Sense of urgency and ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with accuracy and efficiency.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships, demonstrating credibility, influence, and advanced negotiation skills with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Commercially minded and customer-focused approach to deliver value and drive business outcomes.

  • Collaborative team player committed to shared success and continuous improvement.

Knowledge:

  • Awareness of key challenges and emerging opportunities within the Canadian insurance market.

  • Understanding of the Lloyd’s market.

  • Interest in the broader financial services industry, both within Canada and globally.
