About Cala

At Cala, we’re working to free people from the burden of chronic disease. We began by creating the first non-invasive prescription therapy for hand tremor. After years of careful fine-tuning and improvements, we released Cala kIQ — our most sophisticated therapy yet. Our products have empowered thousands of people to get back to their lives with confidence and ease.

But we won’t stop there. Our pioneering technology can be applied across neurology, cardiology, and so much more. It’s all part of our mission to help people in their struggle with chronic disease. We’re only just getting started.

Role Overview

The Supply Chain Manager oversees our entire production material flow, from raw material procurement to final product distribution.  The ideal candidate will optimize logistics, inventory management, and supplier relations to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and maximize customer satisfaction. This role will report to the Director, Manufacturing and will not have any direct reports.

This is an in-person / onsite role located in San Mateo, CA.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Cala will not sponsor applicants for work visas.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies to improve efficiency, speed, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Negotiate prices and contracts with suppliers, vendors, and freight carriers to land favorable terms.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels (minimizing scrap/overstock) and ensure the accuracy of ERP inventory. Conduct physical inventory counts, internally and for consigned materials stored at suppliers.  Investigate discrepancies and put corrective/preventive actions in place.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Team to develop a build plan based on forecasted demand and plan purchases accordingly. Ensure deliveries account for supplier lead times and yield loss.
  • Identify and track performance metrics (for example: on-time delivery, purchase price variances, yields) and report findings to management.
  • Work with engineers to source suppliers for custom parts and sub-assemblies. Support new product launches.
  • Generate purchase orders, verify receipt of goods and approve invoices for payment. Resolve invoice discrepancies with suppliers.
  • Set up Kanban cards to ensure minimum stock levels are maintained for parts and supplies whose demand is driven by usage rather than forecast.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers. Help troubleshoot issues.  Ensure they have sufficient capacity for current and future orders.  Identify opportunities to reduce costs.
  • Work closely with contract manufacturers to ensure quality products are delivered according to quoted lead times. Purchase and supply consigned materials as needed.  Help expedite parts when requested.
  • Work with Finance to confirm material costs rollups used to calculate COGS.
  • Assist the Quality Team in processing RMAs for non-conforming materials identified at Receiving and WIP.
Skills and Experience
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain, procurement and logistics management.
  • Experience working for a medical device manufacturer preferred.
  • Experience purchasing and managing inventory using an ERP system, preferably NetSuite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma practices is a plus.
  • Detail oriented and able to effectively plan, prioritize and complete tasks in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Able to work effectively independently or collaboratively with a cross-functional team.
  • Has a continuous improvement mindset.

Cala Health believes our success is based on diversity of people, teams and thinking. We offer all employees the tools, training and mentoring they need to succeed. Our selection process is driven by the key requirements for the role rather than bias or discrimination on the basis of a candidate’s sex, gender identity, age, marital status, veteran status, non-jobrelated disability/handicap or medical condition, family status, sexual orientation, religion, color, ethnicity, race or any other legally protected classification.
