Responsible for utilizing sales and operations processes, tools, and methodologies to improve demand planning strategy and accuracy. Uses sales and operations processes, tools, and methodologies to analyze, improve, and recommend demand forecasts and enhancements for high volume and complex product categories. Provides actionable data analyses to support business cases for demand plans using data-driven methods. Serves as a mentor for other individual contributors on the team.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

Supports the development and execution of the enterprise sales and operations process for all business segments and sales verticals.

Assists in day-to-day demand planning, including but not limited to developing a repeatable process, developing “one-off” and recurring demand analytics, and delivering the total demand and supply plan/forecast through each process cycle.

Develops and implements robust metrics and reporting on forecast accuracy and issues. Utilizes metrics to understand root cause and drive continuous improvement in planning accuracy.

Coordinates all facets of the sales and operations process to provide an optimum customer service level and working capital/inventory performance. Research, documents, shares, and implements best practice distribution industry processes and methods.

Identifies and reconciles forecast discrepancies, risks and opportunities, and works to close gaps.

Creates statistical forecasts and identifies and quantifies risk using established quantitative methods and application software. Retrieves, refines and analyzes data; translates complex data sets into executive level presentations.

Collaborates with various departments and teams to incorporate the on-boarding of new products, retirement of old products, customer-specific inventory requirements, regulatory changes, and promotions into the demand planning process.

Nature and Scope

  • Solutions require analysis and investigation.

  • Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience.

  • Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally, 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with demand forecasting and analysis and sales and operations processes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems or Supply Chain Management

  • Demonstrated experience working large scale inventory demand initiatives

  • Demand forecasting and analyses and sales and operations processes experience

  • Experience with ERP and Advanced Inventory Management system, Business Intelligence, Data Mining and Analysis tools etc.
