We are searching for the best talent for a Manager, Sales Training to join our J&J Vision team.  This position is based in Markham, Ontario, Canada. 

Purpose:

As a Sales Training Manager at J&J Surgical Vision, you will play a pivotal role in building the commercial capabilities of our field sales organization. You will be responsible for designing, delivering, and optimizing education programs that upskill the JJSV teams and elevate the sales force to best-in-class standards. This role supports one JJSV Canada and collaborates cross-functionally in the NA and Canadian team to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and business outcomes. You will report to the Senior Manager of Sales Training to plan Canada’s training strategy and build/conduct learning in live, virtual, and self-guided programs, aligned to adult learning principals.

You will be responsible for:

  • Capability Development
    • Design and implement commercial education strategies tailored to the needs of JJSV Canada.
    • Develop and deliver training programs focused on sales process and excellence, product knowledge, customer engagement, and strategic selling. Coach and provide feedback on a regular basis to sales training learners. Utilize metrics and observations to make recommendations on next step learning.  
    • Partner with Sales Leadership to identify knowledge and skill gaps and create targeted learning interventions.
    • Ensure that all learning content is current, copy approved, relevant to the business plan, and compliant with all government and legal requirements by working with content development leads and vendors. 
  • Program Management
    • Lead the development and execution of a re-imagined onboarding program, continuous learning, and advanced capability programs.
    • Facilitate learning of anatomy, procedures, complex clinical concepts, products, competitive technologies, and business practices related to the commercial sales roles for the cataract business (IOLs, OVDs, Capital Equipment). 
    • Connect with global colleagues to implement best practices and leverage learning tools and assets developed in other jurisdictions.
    • Manage learning platforms, tools, and resources to ensure accessibility and effectiveness.
    • Monitor and evaluate program impact through KPIs and feedback loops.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Integrate into the business units to understand the strategic priorities of the platforms.
    • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Professional Education, and other internal teams to ensure content relevance and alignment.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to Sales Leaders and field teams, providing insights and recommendations for performance improvement.
  • Innovation & Best Practices
    • Stay current with industry trends, adult learning principles, and digital learning technologies.
    • Develop strong global partnerships to remain current on Commercial Education strategies worldwide.
    • Conduct in-person and virtual training sessions, ensuring clarity, engagement (and adherence to regulations, company policies and industry standards) in formats that resonate with the learner.
    • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in commercial education.

Qualifications:

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Education, Life Sciences, or related field is required; Master’s degree is an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in sales, commercial training, professional education or capability development within MedTech, Pharma, or Healthcare is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years ophthalmic experience is preferred.
  • Selling/customer skills are preferred.
  • Current or previous project management experience is preferred.
  • Current or previous experience with adult learning concepts/theory is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven track record in designing and delivering impactful learning programs.
  • Strong understanding of sales processes, customer engagement strategies, and business acumen.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • 10-20% business travel may be required, willingness to travel within Canada and US.
  • Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.

$94,000.00 - $162,150.00
