A. Relationship Management

• Support other teams within FTP in the preparation data for processing within the QRM risk engine and conveying clear advisement of data change impacts.

• Support model development groups in providing feedback on the implementation of models within the QRM risk engine and conveying clear advisement of system capabilities.

• Interacting with Technology and Operations to resolve processing problems as they occur and to implement changes as they rise.

• Interacting with NTMR, Liquidity & Funding Management, and Corporate Funding groups to coordinate efforts in the joint sourcing of data in Corporate Treasury.

• Interacting with Chief Accounts Group and LOBs to obtain information necessary to resolve problems due to a lack of data completeness.

B. Functional Expertise & Advisory

• Build and maintain data derivation/aggregation logic in QRM MR database and ETL logic in QRM risk engine where required.

• Execute processes required to generate FTP results in the QRM risk engine.

• Development of Business Managed Applications in Excel or Access where necessary to improve efficiencies in processing and presentation.

• Review and analyze day over day, week over week, and month over month position changes.

• Review and analyze compliance and other reports on a monthly basis and as required.

C. Continuous Improvement

• Recommendations for the continuous improvement of FTP processes and procedures within the scope of the work team and participate in the planning and implementation of projects. Take actions and steps towards moving to standardized processes.

• Develop and maintain auto-checking, forecasting and performance measurement tools to effectively support the business.

• Implementation of changes to existing portfolio and financial reports to develop best reporting practices.

• Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and improve controls within the department by assisting in regular process reviews.

D. Governance & Control

• Ensure that daily, weekly, monthly compliance reporting is timely and accurate.

• Develop and maintain standards and processes to ensure consistency in reporting.

• Maintain a current knowledge of accounting, governance and regulatory requirements and communicate the potential impacts and resolution of new requirements to the Senior Manager and disseminate issues to business partners as directed.

• Provide support for internal, external and regulatory audits by providing documentation and information.

• Escalate complex issues as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Typically between 3 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Professional designation in Finance or Risk management preferred.

• BSC (Math, Stats, Engineering, Computer Science), Master degree in quantitative Finance/Mathematics/Science/Engineering or other quantitative disciplines and/or equivalent experience preferred.

• Strong knowledge of Excel, Access, SQL, VBA.

• Working experience in a Finance environment with exposure to one or more of the following: Funds Transfer Pricing, risk management, financial market products and pricing, Balance Sheet / Asset Liability management.

• In-depth knowledge of quantitative modelling including understanding of statistics, risk and financial metrics.

• Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.

• Solid experience and good understanding of bank structure, funds transfer pricing and risk management concepts.

• In-depth knowledge of mathematical and statistical methodologies used in financial engineering (e.g. Monte Carlo methods, option valuation models, regression and calibration techniques etc.)

• Understanding of interest rate risk and liquidity risk management is an asset.

• Understanding of QRM is an asset.

• Designation of CFA, FRM is an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• This role has a hybrid mandate: 2-3x /week in-office.

The Manager, Risk Measurement and Reporting, is accountable to execute, monitor and improve the procedures of monthly processing and reporting of funds transfer pricing (FTP). The Manager may also support daily/weekly/monthly data acquisition and report generation of the Bank’s non-trading balance sheet risk metrics as required. The Manager will work with various project teams on testing changes to FTP methodology, improvement of data quality, and other changes to FTP processing and reporting. This role also recommends continuous improvement opportunities in data quality, data completeness and escalates potential operational risk issues.  The Manager may allocate work to, and review the work performed by the Sr Analyst in the group.

Other responsibilities include:

• Monitors and tracks changes to position and FTP results over reporting periods; addresses and / or escalates any issues.

• Builds various reporting dashboards where required using the most appropriate data extraction, data cleaning and data visualization techniques.

• Designs and produces regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.

• Analyzes data and information to provide insights and recommendations. Applies suitable statistical techniques to perform analysis e.g., A/B testing, mathematical models, algorithms, machine learning to test, verify, refine hypotheses.

• Provides value through insights, reporting and data visualization techniques. Selects, configures and implements analytics solutions for consistency and repeatability.

• Researches and applies continuous improvement in data visualization by identifying trends and patterns to transform raw data into actionable business insights.

• Works with different teams, management and stakeholders to enhance the usability and aesthetic appeal of data analytics solutions deployed in the organization.

• Translates business needs to technical specifications and evaluates existing data visualization systems in order to improve them.

• Develops data visualizations of "large" amounts of data that facilitate the intuitive presentation of data to decision makers. Documents data flow, systems and processes to improve the design, implementation and management of business/group processes.

• Develops tools and delivers training programs for use of reporting tools and self-serve analytics by non-analytical end users; may include delivery of training to audiences.

• Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to deliver on business objectives including third party suppliers.

• Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.

• Participates in the design, implementation and management of core business/group processes and controls.

• Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.

• Provides specialized consulting, analytical and technical support.

• Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.

• Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.

Salary:

$69,000.00 - $129,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
