About the role

 

We are seeking a Data Analytics & Research Manager to lead and grow a team of data analysts and research scientists. In this role, you will oversee work distribution, project management, and team development, ensuring expertise in workplace equity, analytics, and compliance-related data. You will coach and mentor team members, track their impact on company goals, and collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Customer Success, and Sales to refine and execute a research and data strategy.


You will play a key role in driving data-driven decision-making by structuring complex problems, generating insights through statistical models, and influencing senior stakeholders.

  • Directly lead, build and manage an industry-focused team of data analysts and research scientists as we expand our customer base. 
  • Manage distribution of work for team members, including customer assignment and distribution of internal projects including customer custom analytics, research projects, and documentation.
  • Provide coaching, resources, and advice to team members to establish expertise in methodology, analytics, and advanced data techniques.
  • Support team and individual goal development and tracking to measure impact of custom analyses to overall company targets
  • Partner with Customer Experience leadership to assess progress & required improvements to achieve stated team goals.
  • Collaborate with Product, Marketing, Customer Success and Sales teams for insights to refine and execute research and data strategy that builds on the team’s subject matter expertise

About you

  • You are passionate about our mission to close pay gaps and create fairness in the workplace. 
  • You’re an experienced people manager who has led teams of data analysts.
  • You have the ability to coach team members on complex topics and identify strategies to address team member concerns.
  • You have a proven track record of developing and applying statistical knowledge to data driven questions; you have strong problem structuring, data analysis, and narrative building skills. 
  • You are comfortable generating and interpreting statistical models, analyses, graphs and data; ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive decision-making by providing structured recommendations. 
  • You have the ability to operate independently across the entire problem-solving lifecycle, taking in different perspectives before arriving at a recommendation. 
  • You have demonstrated experience with a variety of analytical tools (e.g. R, Python, Excel, SQL, etc.)
  • You are deeply curious, willing to explore all aspects of the product to understand and identify new opportunities to meet customer needs.
  • You have strong attention to detail in all aspects of your work, but especially around the reliability and accuracy of your advice and analyses.
  • You are a self-starter who thrives working independently to solve complex problems, with minimal supervision, in a collaborative, kind, and supportive environment. 
  • You are driven to provide solutions that meet customer needs in a flexible, and often proactive, way.
  • You are willing to ask questions and turn to your teammates for support and expertise. 
  • You’re excited to own and drive initiatives within Syndio that leverage and build your skills and interests.
  • Must be located in Seattle, SF or New York

Extra Credit

  • You have experience or knowledge in workplace equity, compensation, HR consulting, compliance-related, workforce analytics, or familiarity with typical organizational HR data. (We do not provide legal advice, but the individual in this role is expected to provide expert-level compliance advice.) 
  • You have experience in people strategy or analytics at a fast-growing tech company. Prior experience rolling out people analytics or BI tools is a plus.

Role progression

  • Within 1 month, you’ll begin supporting team members through coaching during 1:1s and identifying roadblocks that can be removed.
  • Within 3 months, you’ll be fully ramped and managing core team functions such as project assignment in addition to team member support.
  • Within 6 months, you’ll be working cross-functionally with CX, Data Science, Product and Engineering to streamline collaboration and identify new projects for your team.

  • 💰 Competitive Compensation. For this role our salary is targeted at $148,000 - $175,000 per year. Final offer amounts are determined by factors such as experience and expertise. We take a geo neutral approach to compensation within the US, meaning that we pay based on job function and level, not location.

The interview overview

Below you'll find an outline of the interview plan for our Workplace Equity Specialist position. Please note that this is what we expect the process to look like; we may ask you for supplemental information or require an additional step before making a final decision.

  • 30 min interview with a member of our Talent Team
  • 45 minute zoom interview with the Hiring Manager
  • Three video interviews with several team members - 2 hours
  • Final meeting with Chief Customer Officer - 30 mins
