Job Description

As a Manager, Public Markets Middle Office Transformation in the the Public Markets Middle Office group, you will collaborate with CPP Investments Investment Management, technology and data teams to create new capabilities and lead process improvement. You will be responsible for project management, designing strategic enhancements through all stages of the project lifecycle from initiation, development and delivery of the product to business clients. You will have a drive for doing things the right way, to enable the delivery of long-term value to the CPP Fund for the benefit of 20 million Canadians.
Role-Specific Accountabilities:

  • Owning the project outcome and delivering the agreed business success criteria; monitoring progress against work plan and deliverables;
  • Negotiate consensus on target state and document outcomes, including operating models and solution architecture
  • By having a strong knowledge of Investment Lifecycle, the skill to perform user interviews to collect requirements and document them clearly.
  • Identifying and managing projects/program priorities by successfully mitigating dependencies and competing priorities across related initiatives. Such priority management includes resource estimate assessment and resource forecasting so that bottlenecks are eliminated or minimized;
  • Communicating project status and issues as appropriate to the audience;
  • Escalating issues and risks, as appropriate, with a particular focus on implications;

Qualifications

Skills/Knowledge/Competencies/Capabilities

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or other related discipline
  • Knowledge of investment operations, Trading and Investment Management with a strong grasp of the business processes/functions that support these areas
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage projects of different sizes and scopes to completion
  • Strong understanding of process improvement methodologies is required, process re-engineering training
  • Proven process development skills and solid understanding of project life cycle and the capability to apply best practices knowledge to unique and dynamic situations with PMP / CAPM designations are considered an asset
  • Ability to perform quick assessments identify potential risks and issues; ability to assess project risks at a detailed level;
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills – ability to coordinate many tasks simultaneously without losing focus on the priority; ability to work on multiple projects in a fast paced environment and with aggressive timelines
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to tailor the key messages to various stakeholders including senior executives
  • Experience with Business Process Architecture
  • Excellent interpersonal / relationship skills – effectively works with colleagues at all levels of the organization and effectively gathers information via interviews or in group settings
  • Ability to manage and deliver multiple projects simultaneously in a high performing culture
  • Professional team player who can also work effectively independently
