What you'll be doing

The Consumer Trends & Analytics Team’s mandate is to keep our finger on the pulse of consumer behaviour in an ever-changing, dynamic Canadian market to help inform strategies across various lines of business including product development, brand, communications, etc.

As a Market Research Manager at CIBC, you will primarily be responsible for owning the end-to-end market research process leveraging our internal survey platform for studies including scoping, proposal writing, research design, writing surveys, programming, data collection and reporting findings to internal audiences. In this capacity, you will act as a key research contact and go-to resource for assigned business partners, both on time sensitive requests, as well as day to day business. You will also be the primary expert on key syndicated studies and secondary sources, responsible for synthesizing information into clear, concise and tailored narratives with actionable recommendations for stakeholders.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you’ll succeed

  • Ability to provide an integrated and objective perspective of the marketplace and customer needs, behaviour and attitudes; synthesizing insights, information and market intelligence from many different primary, syndicated, and secondary research sources will be instrumental to your success at CIBC.
  • Business Acumen – You require creativity, innovation and lateral thinking in research expertise and business interpretation. You possess depth and breadth of research knowledge, specifically as it relates to primary market research, as well as a good understanding of business dynamics, and preferably knowledge of the financial services industry.
  • Project Management – You have strong project management and analytical skills with a strong ability to navigate ambiguity while maintaining deadlines and upholding the quality of the research.
  • Relationship Management – You have strong relationship management skills, including communications, persuading, and influencing skills sufficient to effectively manage key stakeholders, build long-term relationships and shape the development of business strategy.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience in highly developed knowledge of market research principles and applications (qualitative and quantitative), including statistical techniques and applications, with at least 3-5 years of practical and relevant job experience, especially in leading end to end project management and execution leveraging a research platform. It's an asset if you have at least 2 years of marketing research experience at a research supplier.
  • You are a self-starter. You don't shy away from ambiguity but rather get excited by the challenge to explore and learn new things on your own
  • You are fluent in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Tableau, SPSS, DisplayR and programming in Alida, Qualtrics or other survey platforms
  • You give meaning to data and are a strong storyteller. You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. You're confident in your ability to communicate detailed information in a clear, concise impactful way.
  • You're passionate about people. You find meaning in relationships and surround yourself with a diverse network of partners. You build trust through respect and authenticity.
  • You understand that success is in the details. You notice things that others don't. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making.
  • Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work and you live our values – trust, teamwork and accountability.
