Manager, International Tax (12 Month Contract)
We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager, International Tax to join the Tax Department based in our Toronto, Canada corporate head-office. This role will report to the Senior Director, Canadian and International Tax and work with the other members of the tax team in the diverse and dynamic environment of Four Seasons’ global headquarters.
This position is for a fixed-term contract of 12 months and does not guarantee a permanent role after completion.
The Manager, International Tax will manage the organization’s international tax compliance function. The successful candidate will have experience in Canadian inbound and outbound international income tax and exposure to foreign tax rules. The position is responsible for the management of tax compliance and tax audits for our global organization.
In addition, the Manager, international tax will be required to assist with special projects as needed and play a crucial role in our tax team’s journey to build and implement tax technology solutions to enhance efficiencies and quality while reducing risk, review time and complexity.
The successful candidate will possess excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Working with our advisors, to ensure the timely preparation, filing and review of various foreign tax returns and related filings.
- Working with internal and external advisors to provide support in response to foreign tax audit queries.
- Preparation of Foreign Affiliate Surplus and Adjusted Cost Base Calculations.
- Preparation of T1134 information return.
- Assist with Regulation 102 and Regulation 105 related tax matters and tax filings.
- Preparation of treaty-based returns.
- Preparation of relevant elections pertinent to Canadian international tax compliance (e.g., foreign affiliate dumping rules, surplus, etc.)
- Reconciling assessment notices to tax returns filed and providing support for government tax audits.
- Preparation of tax estimates and instalment schedules for the global organization.
- Assist with preparation of quarterly and annual tax provision working papers, tax notes, Tax MD&A and other Tax Accounting Disclosures for foreign entities.
- Assist with preparation of Annual Budget and Quarterly Tax Forecasts and Budgets.
- Review of withholding tax process, develop and implement process improvements.
- Assist with the Automation of Tax Processes as part of the Finance Transformation Project
- Planning and research in implementing tax planning strategies and other special projects as needed.
What You Bring:
- CPA designation enrolled In-Depth Tax program or Master of Taxation.
- Minimum 3 years corporate tax experience in a firm or in industry dealing with organizations operating in Canada and across the globe.
- Financial reporting and Canadian and International compliance experience, with knowledge of tax accounting principles.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Effective time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with tax software (e.g. Taxprep, Taxprep Forms).
- Experience with accounting software – Sun Systems, HFM, Oracle, Longview, etc.
All candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
This role will be a Hybrid working model, which will require 3 days per week in the Four Seasons Corporate Office located at 1165 Leslie Street, Toronto, Ontario #LI-Hybrid
