Location: Markham, ON. This position is required to perform on-site duties Monday through Friday. Per DXC policy, employees located within 25 miles of a DXC office or client site will be required to work onsite at minimum 2 times per week.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience of leading data center technical teams within mission critical facilities.
  • 2 years of experience in program or project management.
  • 2 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: electrical systems, mechanical systems, controls, security monitoring, fire safety, or networking/fiber.
  • Must be able to obtain Reliability Clearance or higher
  • Proficient in Microsoft O365 tools

Preferred Requirements:

  • 5 years of experience with mission-critical equipment/environments (e.g. switchgear, generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, controls, security monitoring systems, fire safety systems).
  • Experience managing vendor relationships.
  • Knowledge of large-scale facility electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience managing people and teams.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Excellent communication, people, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with IT equipment including servers, network switches, storage, and cabinets
  • Solid working knowledge of data center environments and infrastructure, network and telecommunications protocols, and disaster recovery.
  • Experience working with through audits (PCI, ISO, SOC).

Responsibilities:

  • Management of the Markham data center operations team.
    • Onboarding and training of new hires.
    • Interface and manage the onsite cable team, site support team, and media team to ensure daily operations is executed within quality and efficiency goals.
    • Performance management of all direct reports.  Annual appraisals, performance improvement planning, continuous education, and mandatory training compliance of the team.
  • Work effectively within a matrix organization, collaborating with cross-functional partners, vendors, and internal teams to resolve issues and maintain operations.
  • Manage multiple data center projects from inception to completion overseeing all phases, including concept development, hardware design, installation, and testing and turnover.
    • Management of overall incident tickets and priority of projects.
    • Coordination with onsite data center facilities management for site escalations.
    • Assistance with data center workload placement and capacity planning.
    • Support of audits and tours as requested (PCI, ISO, SOC)
    • Assistance with new client projects, design and engineering support.
    • Vendor management and coordination.
  • Data Center Planning
    • Support DXC Technology Data Center IT equipment installation and removal planning activities.
    • Participate in planning of data center space and layout for new device installations, removals, and cabling infrastructure builds
    • Complete and return to Hardware Planning Site Inspection forms as requested for equipment assignments and removals.
  • Service Management
    • Support DXC Technology’s Service Management process and procedures including performing activities in the designated DXC Technology tools and ticketing systems.
    • Provide a completed root cause analysis report with remediation actions for incidents resulting from a failed task or preventable event in accordance with DXC standards and service level targets of this SOW.
    • Perform ITIL level activities related to Incident, Problem and Change
      • Review requests in DXC Technology tools and ticketing systems
      • Contribute to the creation of tickets and content in DXC Technology Tools and ticketing systems
      • Attend DXC Technology planning meetings to prepare for planned activity windows
      • Approve requests in DXC Technology tools and ticketing systems
      • Record activities performed in DXC Technology tools and ticketing systems
      • Mark requests complete in DXC Technology tools and ticketing systems
      • Perform problem and root cause activities related to facilities incidents
  • Documentation
    • Accurately track, record, and maintain documentation related to data center systems and environments.
