Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Third-Party Risk Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with third-party relationships, in addition to overseeing daily contract management activities. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that our organization continues to operate securely and efficiently while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.

Directly reporting to the Director, HR Risk and Compliance Management, a successful candidate has the business acumen, leadership skills and understanding of supplier, contract and third-party risk management to effectively manage HR's third party risk program.

What will you do?

  • Follow the established third-party risk management (TPRM) framework and ensure that HR aligns with the company’s TPRM Program standards and requirements

  • Lead a dynamic team of Supplier Relationship Managers to ensure that internal stakeholders are adequately supported with the contract management process

  • Conduct thorough risk assessments of third-party suppliers based on the TPRM requirements

  • Monitor and evaluate the risk profile of third-party relationships on an ongoing basis

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Corporate HR to ensure TPRM practices are integrated into business processes and timely executed for efficient contract management results

  • Maintain a centralized repository of third-party risk and supplier information using company TPRM tools such as, JIRA and ServiceNow

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards

  • Provide regular reports and updates to the Director and Senior Management on the status of third-party risks and supplier contracts that require additional attention

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Risk to understand and address risk mitigation strategies and ensure effective implementation of the TPRM Policies, Guidelines and Framework

  • Stay current on emerging trends and best practices in third-party risk management

What do you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field

  • At least 5 years of experience in risk management, compliance, or a related area

  • Self-motivated with an ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Experience with leading people and encouraging others in daily accountabilities

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Third-Party Risk Professional (CTPRP) or Certified Risk Manager (CRM) are preferred

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and assess potential risks

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

  • Experience with risk assessment tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Archer) and methodologies

  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., B-10, OSFI Integrity and Security Guidelines) and industry standards related to third-party risk management

  • Strong organizational skills and Detail oriented

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
