Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 6 to 15 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals.

Purpose: The Manager, Health Economics & Market Access (HEMA), will support the VELYS Knee platform and will work in close collaboration with the US & global business partners to ensure market access and a competitive advantage of the joint reconstruction portfolio. The Manager will own the development and execution of global evidence generation and market access requirements for the product pipeline and post product launch. The manager’s responsibilities require a good understanding of healthcare policy and the needs of clinical and non-clinical customers, and the knowledge of health economics concepts and research methods to support the commercial success of the business.
This position reports to the Director, HEMA and will work closely with multiple internal partners, including but not limited to Marketing, R&D, Clinical and Medical Affairs, and Regulatory Affairs.
You will be responsible for:
- Own the HEMA projects and initiatives to contribute to market expansion opportunities on the value of the VELYS Knee platform.
- Provide input to product pipeline projects, such as contributing to target product profiles, economic value propositions and evidence generation strategy & plan for products within the portfolio.
- Lead evidence generation projects aiming at establishing the value of the products.
- Implement reimbursement strategies that enable market access for VELYS Knee platform and their commercial success.
- Develop value tools including value dossiers, values analysis briefs, economics models, and dissemination initiatives to demonstrate the value of the VELYS Knee platform and orthopaedic surgery
- Support and coordinate the work of HEMA associates to support commercial business objectives. However, the role does not include direct people management responsibilities.
- Work closely with Regional HEMA partners and multiple cross-functional partners, including Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, Marketing, Professional Education, Regulatory Affairs, and Legal.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in health sciences related field is required
- An advanced degree (MS, MPH, PhD, MHA, MBA) in health economics, outcomes research or healthcare-related field is preferred
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in medical device, pharmaceuticals or HEOR consulting is required
- The ability to work from strategy development through to execution and value creation in a dynamic and fast-paced global organization, with minimal oversight
- Experience in health services research, health economics, outcomes research, market access, health policy and reimbursement
- Experience in developing global market access assessments and evidence generation strategies
- Ability to build partnerships and engage with multi-functional teams to provide input and influence decisions
- Effectively work in a matrix environment and demonstrate influence capabilities
- Experience working in decentralized and cross-functional business models
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
- Good analytical skills.
- Knowledge of data collection and review practices
- Be proactive, highly responsible, and have an accountable approach
