The Manager of Government Affairs (Canada) is responsible for developing, managing, and executing government and regulatory affairs strategies in Canada. This role establishes, builds, and maintains effective relationships with key third-party stakeholders, including government officials, industry bodies, and relevant trade associations.

 

The Manager will represent Red Bull Canada across the regulatory and government affairs landscape and partner closely with the Red Bull Canada leadership team to support and protect the company’s reputation. The role is also responsible for supporting and maintaining a regulatory and policy environment that enables responsible marketing of the product and the energy drinks category at the federal, provincial, and local levels.

 

In addition, the Manager of Government Affairs (Canada) will ensure strategic alignment with North American and Global Science, Regulatory, & Government Affairs teams to navigate the regulatory arena relevant to the energy drink category and Red Bull’s local operations. The role serves as the primary point of contact for Canadian federal, provincial, and local government matters.

Job Description

POLICY EXPERTISE

Understand and manage public policy issues of greatest commercial/reputational importance to Red Bull Canada (and Red Bull Global), including food and beverage, recycling, sustainability, and trade policy.

Monitor, research, and analyze all relevant proposed, pending, or existing federal, provincial, and local legislation and regulations of potential relevance to Red Bull Canada.

Ensure alignment of company practices with local laws/regulations and industry codes.

 

GOVERNMENT AND STAKEHOLDER RELATIONS AND ADVOCACY

Establish, develop, and maintain strong, effective working relationships with relevant federal, provincial, and local officials and regulators.

Engage with trade associations, industry coalitions, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure Red Bull business priorities are reflected in advocacy efforts.

Represent the organization at external meetings, industry trade associations, and events with government agencies and legislative bodies.

Provide support to Senior Director of Government Affairs (North America) on relevant matters including engagement with public offices and regulators.

 

INTERNAL COLLABORATION AND ALIGNMENT

Work closely with internal cross-functional teams, including Legal, Marketing, Communications, Sales, and Operations.

Ensure alignment of company practices with local laws/regulations and industry codes.

Qualifications

Strong grasp of the politics that drive Canadian policymaking.

A Bachelor's degree (minimum) in a related field of study (political science, public affairs, government or law).

A minimum of 5 years of related professional experience working in either Federal/Provincial government, for an industry or trade association, a private/public business, or non-governmental organization involved with directly dealing with the Canadian government.

Excellent working knowledge of the legislative and regulatory processes in Ottawa and at provincial level.

Ability to register as a lobbyist at any level of government.

Familiarity with Consumer-Packaged Goods, Food and/or Beverage sector.

Proven experience in issues and reputation management and project management.

Very strong interpersonal, written and presentation skills successfully applied in advocacy.

Effective relationship building and collaboration skills.

Ability to create and deliver PowerPoint presentations and other educational tools.

Excellent problem-solving skills and risk judgment.

Very strong ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment and simultaneously manage multiple priorities and projects. 

An affinity for and alignment with Red Bull’s corporate culture.

Additional Information

The expected annual base salary range for this position is $137,750 to $152,250 . The actual base salary for this position will depend on various factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience and work location. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus in accordance with the terms of Red Bull’s bonus plan.
