Job Title: Manager, Finance Integration & Quality of Earnings
Company: Solen Software Group
Location: Toronto
Employment Type : Full-time
About Solen Software Group
Solen Software Group is an evergreen holding company that acquires and operates proven software businesses that have significant growth potential in a variety of vertical markets, enabling them to be market leaders in their niche industry. Solen owns several software companies in various market spaces: Human Resource Technology, Fleet Telematics, Asset Management, E-Health, Document Management, and other innovative software solutions in a variety of industries. Solen is backed by a group of advisors and investors that have built software businesses of material scale (10-100M in ARR) and advised many. Solen compounds for decades, not quarters.
About this opportunity
At Solen, it’s Day 1 of a decades-long journey. As Manager for Finance Integration & Quality of Earnings you will take full responsibility for executing financial diligence, validating earnings quality, and integrating acquired companies’ financial data into Sage Intacct. You will support acquisitions from pre-close through post-close integration, ensuring clean, reliable financials, strong controls, and consistent reporting—while respecting the decentralized operating model of our portfolio companies.
You must be hands-on focused on accuracy, repeatability, and speed, not financial engineering. Buying and building businesses for the long haul requires grit and precision. Success relies on having a roadmap and the ability to execute without hesitation.
In acquisition-driven software holding companies, financial discipline is foundational. You will ensure that each acquired business enters the portfolio with clean earnings, reliable systems, and scalable financial infrastructure—enabling confident capital allocation and long-term value creation.
Key responsibilities
Quality of Earnings & Pre-Close Support
- Lead or support Quality of Earnings (QoE) analyses for acquired vertical market software businesses.
- Review historical financial statements to identify normalization adjustments, revenue recognition issues, one-time items, working capital trends, and customer concentration risks.
- Validate ARR, deferred revenue, churn, and margin metrics for SaaS and maintenance-based businesses.
- Partner with deal teams to flag risks, integration complexity, and post-close priorities.
Financial Systems Integration (Sage Intacct)
- Own the end-to-end integration of acquired company financials from multiple systems into Sage Intacct.
- Map charts of accounts, dimensions, entities, and reporting structures to holding company standards.
- Clean and migrate historical financial data, ensuring accuracy and auditability.
- Establish monthly close processes, consolidation readiness, and standardized reporting in Intacct.
Post-Close Financial Stabilization
- Implement consistent accounting policies aligned with GAAP/IFRS (as applicable), including revenue recognition for SaaS, licenses, and maintenance.
- Improve financial controls, documentation, and cadence without over-burdening operating teams.
- Support the transition to reliable monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
Operating Company Partnership
- Work closely with portfolio company controllers, CFOs, and owners in a collaborative manner.
- Act as a temporary extension of the operating company finance team during integration.
- Enable long-term success rather than permanent centralization.
Playbooks & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and refine repeatable finance integration playbooks, checklists, and templates.
- Identify common issues across acquisitions and drive standardization where it creates leverage.
- Continuously improve speed and quality of integrations as acquisition volume scales.
Success Metrics
- Timely, accurate QoE assessments supporting confident investment decisions
- Speed and accuracy of Sage Intacct integrations post-close
- Clean monthly closes and consistent financial reporting within defined timelines
- Reduction in post-acquisition financial surprises
- Positive feedback from operating company leadership and deal teams
About you
- Detail-oriented with high standards for accuracy
- Pragmatic, execution-focused, and comfortable working in ambiguity
- Low-ego, collaborative partner to founders and operators
- Comfortable rolling up sleeves in early-stage or under-resourced environments
- Aligned with long-term ownership and permanent capital models
Ideal Candidate profile
- Prior experience in transaction services, financial due diligence, accounting, or integration roles (5 years +)
- Hands-on experience performing or reviewing Quality of Earnings analyses
- Strong working knowledge of Sage Intacct (implementation, migrations, reporting)
- Deep understanding of SaaS and vertical market software financials (ARR, deferred revenue, churn, maintenance)
- Solid grounding in GAAP/IFRS and revenue recognition principles
Nice to have but not mandatory
- Background in Big 4 or mid-market transaction advisory
- Experience integrating multiple acquisitions in a PE-backed or holdco environment
- Exposure to decentralized operating models.
- Experience with multi-entity, multi-currency environments
The successful candidate will work from Solen's office in Toronto.
