The Manager of Enterprise Security Engineering will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining security measures that protect Okta’s internal-facing infrastructure, systems and data. This role is critical in enhancing our security posture, enabling the business to operate safely at scale and increasing customer trust. The Engineering Manager will ideally be a hands-on, strategic-minded manager who can collaborate across engineering, IT operations, GRC, Security Architecture, Data Protection, and senior leadership teams.

Preferred experience with enterprise security tools such as the Okta Identity Platform, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Mobile Device Management (MDM), Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), SaaS Security Posture Management (SSPM), Identity Security Posture Management (ISPM), API Security Posture Management (API-SPM), Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW), and Virtual Private Networks (VPN), Unified Vulnerability Management (UVM), Technical Documentation and Solution Architecture, Program Delivery Solutions (e.g. Github, Jira) and Dashboards (e.g. Grafana, Tableau). The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of automating solutions utilizing a cloud-first approach and be comfortable communicating concisely and in detail with technical leadership and management.

What you’ll be doing

  • Oversee the configuration, maintenance and optimization of enterprise security tools and technologies to ensure they operate effectively.
  • Continuously evaluate the performance of enterprise security tools and systems, implementing improvements or adjustments to ensure maximum detection and efficiency.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the enterprise security infrastructure, including threat monitoring, detection, response and remediation triage at scale.
  • Implement strategies for continuous security insight by monitoring alerts and overseeing the responses to drifts or anomalies.
  • Manage and configure security dashboards that provide real-time visibility into Okta's enterprise security posture. These dashboards should deliver actionable insights on ongoing threats, policy drifts and remediation trends.
  • Deliver regular formal reports to key stakeholders (e.g., executive leadership and engineering teams), ensuring they are up-to-date on enterprise security operations through executive-level reports. 
  • Ensure that the security operations team is equipped with the necessary automation tools to scale enterprise security operations as the company grows, minimizing manual intervention and speeding up detection and response times.
  • Automate enterprise security tasks (e.g., alert triage, report generation) to improve efficiency and reduce human error in security processes.
  • Maintain continuous technical oversight of all security tools deployed across the Security org.
  • Oversee enterprise security team response to timezone-specific requests and on-call schedule from incident response, GRC, IT and end-users. 
  • Lead, mentor and grow a team of enterprise security engineers to drive security initiatives across the organizations. Foster a culture of innovation, excellence and continuous improvement within the team.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • 7+ years of experience in enterprise security engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role within a large-scale tech organization.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing and optimizing security solutions for enterprise infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability,  zero trust architectures and ability to adhere to best practices such as those defined in Okta's reference security architecture.
  • Proficiency in security automation, security orchestration, security tools integration and scripting (Python preferred).
  • Experience applying access and data security controls on both SaaS and desktop applications.
  • Experience working with identity management technologies (MFA, SAML, WebAuthn).
  • A streamlined approach to meeting objectives in line with Okta's Secure Identity Commitment.

Below is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada. Your actual salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, RRSP with a match, healthcare spending, telemedicine, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in Canada is between:

$141,000$211,000 USD
