Job Description

The Manager, Development Accounting is responsible for accurate financial reporting for a portfolio of Canadian development properties. This hands-on leader works with the Yardi construction manager module, leads a team, and works collaboratively with many stakeholders across the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day development accounting, including the development payable function.

  • Lead and actively contribute to the implementation and ongoing optimization of the Yardi construction module.

  • Review monthly construction loan draw and capital call packages in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Review monthly reporting packages prepared in accordance with IFRS and ASPE.

  • Coordinate development and construction treasury and payables processes, including capital draws.

  • Monitor loan accounts including construction draws, interest payments, loan renewals, quarterly loan compliance.

  • Monitor and report on development management fee revenue.

  • Prepare and review monthly reports and reconciliations and assist with the preparation of corporate’s consolidated financial statements, MD&A and supplemental package where needed.

  • Participate in special projects and perform other ad-hoc tasks as assigned and develop/maintain standard operating procedures and training documentation.

  • Mentor and lead team members including providing regular feedback, coaching, and training.

Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of IFRS as it relates to development properties.

  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced and challenging environment.

  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and adheres to high standards for work quality.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills

  • Self-motivated with good work ethic and willingness to learn.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.

Minimum Requirements:

  • University degree in Commerce, Finance or relevant field

  • CPA designation

  • 5+ years of industry or public audit experience, including 2+ years of people management experience

Preferred Attributes:

  • Residential real estate experience

  • Experience with Yardi construction manager module

  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

Salary Range

Placement within this compensation range will be determined by the candidate's knowledge, experience and skills.

$109,340.00 - $159,340.00
This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on company performance and individual contribution as well as an attractive benefit and wellness package.
