Who we need

Reporting to the  Director, Cost Estimation & Commercial Analytics, we are hiring a Manager, Cost Estimation. You will be a people and process leader, supporting us during this exciting period of growth, guiding the work of the team, and driving excellence, efficiency, and accuracy across all estimating activities. You will apply your deep technical knowledge of manufacturing cost drivers to optimize performance, partner cross-functionally, and contribute to pricing strategy and business decision-making.

This is a newly created full-time position operating in a hybrid model, with on-site presence up to five days per week, as required.

As our new Manager, Cost Estimation, you will:

  • Lead a team. You will coach and develop a team of Cost Estimators, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement. You will set priorities, manage performance, and ensure the team meets timelines and quality standards for all estimates. You will build capability through mentoring, technical training, and cross-functional collaboration. You will partner with the Director to align resource planning and workload balance with business priorities.
  • Validate estimates. You will oversee the preparation of detailed cost estimates for all new and existing projects, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and company margin objectives. You will review and validate cost estimates to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with estimating standards.
  • Optimize processes. You will standardize and maintain estimating templates, pricing tools, and process documentation. You will drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce cycle times.
  • Support strategy with analysis and recommendations. You will analyze project results, win/loss data, and market trends to identify opportunities for pricing and cost optimization. You will support the Director in developing pricing strategies and commercial analytics to improve decision-making and competitiveness. You will participate in strategic reviews and business planning as a subject matter expert in manufacturing cost estimation.
  • Collaborate. You will work closely with Sales, Design, Engineering, Procurement, and Operations to provide timely, data-driven insights during the quoting and proposal stages. You will act as the primary liaison between Estimating and key departments, ensuring smooth communication, timely handoffs, and shared understanding of project scope and assumptions. You will support global and regional estimating initiatives to standardize best practices and tools across our network.

You have:

  • The expertise. You have extensive experience in Cost Estimating, Process Engineering, or related manufacturing functions, preferably in retail fixtures, displays, or custom fabrication industries. You have experience in Estimating, Process Engineering, or related product manufacturing cost analysis. You have expertise in verifying and revising estimates, taking into account new and changing information such as production location, materials, and delivery dates. You have progressed into a leadership role, managing technical or estimating teams.
  • The functional knowledge. You have in-depth, practical knowledge of manufacturing processes (plastics, assembly, metal fabrication, millwork, etc.). You understand the cost-estimation process for projects executed across multiple geographies, accounting for logistics and customs-clearance constraints. You are proficient with industry-standard cost estimation software for preparing complex cost estimates. You have a strong understanding of the integration between the cost estimation process and ERP systems to support accurate budgeting and production planning.
  • The analytical skills. You have business acumen with the ability to balance customer value and profitability. You are a critical thinker who can confidently investigate and suggest alternative production methods and improve designs to optimize manufacturing cost-effectiveness. You are solution-oriented, logical, and can translate complex data into actionable insights, drawing on your analysis of the situation and constraints.
  • The technical skills. You have strong mathematical and engineering skills, including the ability to interpret design documentation. You possess advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, project management systems, and estimation software. You are comfortable learning and using new technologies and methodologies. You are highly analytical and meticulous with a strong attention to detail. 
  • The interpersonal skills. You have professional written and verbal communication skills. You can build trusting working relationships and are comfortable reaching out to internal and external contacts to request information.
  • The drive and motivation. You are committed to delivering quality results and overcoming obstacles in a time-sensitive environment. You thrive under pressure and understand the importance of meeting deadlines to enable the work of those around you. You can make decisions autonomously while prioritizing collaboration. You have respect for the diverse experiences and perspectives of others.

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $125,000CAD annually plus bonus. Compensation is thoughtfully determined based on your experience, skill set, and alignment with our internal compensation framework.
