The Compliance Project Management Office (PMO) team in Global Compliance is responsible for supporting strategy development, business planning, performance metrics and lead the management of material compliance projects - a priority given the evolution and profile of the Compliance function.
The Manager, Compliance Technology, Compliance PMO, Enterprise Compliance position is accountable for the project management and support of technology initiatives and operations based on criteria that align with the vision of the Global Compliance function. The position would support planning and coordination, communication updates and analysis for assigned initiatives. The role will also support the GRC and AML technology integration within Compliance in four aspects: vision execution, operational alignment, technology implementation oversight, and change management
What will you do?

Manage and support Compliance and Technology initiatives leveraging Sun Life best practices and standards.

Create and maintain initiative deliverables and artifacts such as Project and Sprint plans, Scope document, Project Charter, Communication plan, meeting minutes, RAID logs, etc.

Adopt a digital mindset to analyze and challenge current processes and drive outcomes by working with technical experts to realize benefits from AML and GRC system optimization.

Engage cross-functional teams, stakeholders and communicate project updates effectively to ensure buy in and project success.

Deliver on timelines and documentation needed for each deal, including search and follow up on key due diligence documentation.

Report project outcomes and/or risks to the appropriate management channels and escalate issues, as necessary.

Analyze data and information from projects and generates insights and recommendations to inform future improvements.

Drive process improvements and tools, including developing dashboards and/or communication tools to inform cross-functional teams on progress, deliverables, and deadlines.
What you need to succeed?

The role requires the candidate to have a presence with senior management, including strong verbal and written communication skills.
-
Strong project management and coordination capabilities with demonstrated experience managing dispersed and indirect resources.
-
Experience managing projects using Agile and Waterfall methodologies.

Knowledge of Project Governance and Change Management frameworks
-
Experience in the execution of compliance or related projects in Financial Institutions.
-
Good facilitation and influence skills to direct effective meetings for project teams.
-
Excellent data analysis and problem solving skills.
-
Ability to operate and succeed in an abstract and fast changing environment.
-
Calm and professional under difficult or changing circumstances.
-
Good understanding of the financial services industry and related regulatory regime.
-
Understanding of consequences of errors in judgement or decision making (which could place SL at risk or result in significant legal liability and harm to company reputation).

Over 5 years of work experience, including 3 years of Compliance work experience, managing multiple complex projects.

Professional certification(s) such as PMI-PMP, PMI-ACP, CSM or equivalent work experience is an asset

Experience with GRC or AML systems

Proficiency in Analytics tools (like Tableau, MS Excel macros), and the development of Power Point decks.

Post-secondary education.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
