The Opportunity

The OTPP Collateral team oversees enterprise margin activity across the Fund, covering both bilateral and cleared products. This buy-side role provides meaningful visibility across the organization, with exposure to senior leaders and key topics such as counterparty credit risk, inventory management, collateral eligibility, margin optimization, and operational resiliency.

We are seeking an experienced Manager, Collateral & Liquidity Operations to play a key leadership role in overseeing daily collateral management activities, strengthening processes and controls, and supporting the effective delivery of a critical function within the enterprise. This role also contributes to cross-functional initiatives that support OTPP’s global investment platform.

We are looking for a leader who is passionate about coaching, developing, and inspiring teams. You will lead a group of talented professionals, support their growth and performance, and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

This is a highly visible opportunity to influence important business outcomes, strengthen core operational infrastructure, and make a meaningful impact within a critical function at OTPP.

Who you'll work with

Reporting to the Senior Manager, this role leads a team of skilled professionals responsible for margin management and collateral resilience to ensure daily margin requirements are met through effective management of eligible securities under the broader Public Investments Operations group within the Finance Division. In managing Teachers’ enterprise margin and collateral activities, the Collateral team works closely with both the Treasury and Counterparty Risk teams.

What you'll do

  • Drive Continuous Improvements & Transformation - Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, reduce operational risk, and support scalability. Evolve capabilities to expand margin and collateral analytics that reduce margin exposure and optimize collateral usage.

  • Deliver on Strategic Initiatives & Projects - Enable or own the delivery of key priorities by establishing business requirements, evaluating business impacts, and recommending the best course of action.

  • Foster Strong Internal & External Partnerships - Collaborate with internal teams (including Treasury, Risk, Legal, Investments, other Finance teams) to ensure timely issue resolution and alignment on business needs. Address escalated issues impacting operational integrity, risk reporting, or liquidity reporting.

  • Lead & Develop the Team - Manage, coach, and develop a team responsible for daily activities under time sensitive deadlines intraday. Oversee recruitment, performance management, and ongoing skill development to support team growth and operational excellence.

What you'll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience; professional designations such as CPA (CA, CGA, CMA) or CFA are considered strong assets.

  • 8–10+ years in Investment Operations, specifically with collateral management expertise such as a deep understanding of ISDA CSA/GMRA agreements, cleared margin activities, regulatory collateral initiatives (SIMM, Sponsored Repo), collateral management services, and buy-side investment operations.

  • Proven ability to lead teams, inspire performance, and champion change initiatives that drive measurable operational improvements with experience in a leadership or people‑management role.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience partnering across diverse teams and working with senior leaders to navigate complex structures and support informed decision‑making.

  • Demonstrated success in coordinating cross‑functional initiatives, delivering process enhancements, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Experience with various collateral platforms (e.g. Acadia, TriOptima, Triparty custodians)
