This position is a hybrid role based in our Mississauga, ON office with the opportunity to work 2 days remotely per week.

The Billing Operations Manager - AWS leads the execution and transformation of Amazon Web Services (AWS) billing operations within a global cloud marketplace and platform ecosystem. This role is responsible for delivering accurate, scalable, and efficient billing while driving automation, operational maturity, and data-driven decision-making. Beyond operational oversight, this leader will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Support to modernize billing capabilities, unlock actionable insights from billing data, and support business growth through improved billing intelligence and operational excellence. This role is ideal for a hands-on manager who can lead a team while actively shaping how billing evolves as a strategic enablement function within a modern cloud platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end AWS billing operations, including usage ingestion, reconciliation, validation, invoicing, credits, and exceptions.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing billing team with strong accountability and execution discipline.
  • Drive automation and modernization of billing processes to reduce manual effort and increase scalability.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to:
  • Improve billing workflows and data pipelines
  • Define automation opportunities
  • Enhance reliability and operational visibility.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to analyze billing data and generate insights that support growth, optimization, and improved customer outcomes.
  • Translate complex billing data into meaningful operational and business insights through data slicing, trend analysis, and anomaly detection.
  • Establish robust controls and governance to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational predictability.
  • Lead root cause investigations for billing incidents and drive permanent corrective actions.
  • Implement proactive monitoring and validation frameworks to prevent billing issues before invoice generation.
  • Act as escalation point for high-impact billing issues impacting customers or partners.

What you bring to the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Commerce, or a related field required (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Minimum 15+ years in billing operations, cloud finance operations, or usage-based billing environments in required.
  • Strong understanding of AWS billing constructs, including Cost & Usage Reports (CUR), pricing models, credits, and discount structures.
  • Proven experience leading operational teams in fast-paced technology or platform environments.
  • Demonstrated success driving automation and improving operational efficiency.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data into actionable business insights.
  • Comfortable partnering cross-functionally across Product, Engineering, Finance, and Operations.

Preferred:

  • Experience with cloud financial management tools such as: CloudCheckr DoiT, or similar cloud optimization platforms.
  • Experience working within marketplace, platform, or ecosystem-based business models.
  • Exposure to large-scale global billing environments.
  • Familiarity with BI tools, SQL, or data visualization platforms.

The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is $120,000 - $140,000 CAD per year. The ranges above reflects the potential annual starting base pay across all of Canada for all roles. Individual base pay within each range depends on various factors, including work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. This role is for a new role and will not use AI for screening applicants.
