The primary focus of the Manager Business Development is to build an industry-leading sales experience (for our clients) and team that connects and builds trust with clients so they want to invest at Wealthsimple. This leader works in tight collaboration with Growth Marketing, Sales Operations, and Sales leadership to drive us to grow faster than any other financial service company in Canada.


Although many financial services companies are focused on growth, we have seen industry leading results when the Commercial team has worked closely with Growth marketing.  Specifically the Business Development team drove $5B in net deposits in 2024 and plan to double to $10B in net deposit growth in 2025.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead and scale a new BDR team focused on driving growth through outreach to new and existing clients for Corporate accounts
  • Coach and develop 4 BDRs and foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment 
  • Own your revenue targets, metrics and performance, optimizing for sales funnel conversion, and pipeline management
  • Leverage data to uncover insights that drive team optimization
  • Partner closely with Growth Marketing, Revenue Operations and other sales leaders to share best practices and drive productivity, funnel conversion to scale the business

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Client-focused - Always put the client first
  • People Management - 5 years+ of experience leading and growing a sales team
  • Analytical - proactively uncovering insights through data to drive recommendations 
  • Adaptability - priorities and direction can evolve quickly. You should have a positive can-do attitude and be adaptable to evolving business goals
  • Strong communication - with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and lead with context
  • Self-starter - when you see a need, you address it. This is a brand new team, and being creative and having an entrepreneurial mindset is a must
  • Bonus: Fluency with financial and investing concepts and experience in a Series A-C startup
