What you’ll be doing

Reporting to Director, Advanced Analytics you will be a contributor to the delivery of the Data Analytics’ (DA) strategy, plan and projects within Internal Audit (IA). You will work closely with the DA and IA teams to leverage analytics in order to provide assurance to the bank through our support of audit engagements, continuous monitoring and auditing programs, as well as proactive, strategic, and ad-hoc analysis of trending and emerging risks.

How you'll succeed

  • Leverage advanced analytics, modeling, and statistical expertise to design, implement, and deliver analytics engagements supporting Internal Audit partners. Lead assigned tasks to ensure high-quality analysis and clearly communicated, actionable insights.
  • Contribute to the design and deployment of interactive dashboards for visual analytics projects, and support the creation of continuous monitoring and auditing programs, data profiles, and KPI/KRI dashboards.
  • Collaborate closely with Internal Audit, Data Analytics team members, and other stakeholders to understand the bank’s control environment, assess inherent and emerging risks, and define the scope for data analytics engagements.
  • Actively participate in the audit life cycle as a data and analytics expert, contributing to scope definition, designing and implementing analytics engagements, and delivering results to stakeholders.
  • Work with consultants and leaders across the CIBC analytics community to identify integration opportunities and deliver coordinated analytics services to Internal Audit.

Who you are

  • A degree (preferably at the graduate level) in Management Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Quantitative Finance, Computer Science, or Business. 
  • Advanced theoretical and practical expertise in data analytics, quantitative modeling, business intelligence, or statistical analysis.
  • Progressive experience in data analytics, including product, client, or risk analytics. Hands-on experience with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is an asset.
  • Exposure to data engineering and hands-on experience in process automation using MS Power Platform and software development is a definite advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey complex data insights and tell compelling stories through analytics.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and team skills, with a proven ability to collaborate and lead across a matrix organization, drive priorities, influence change, and deliver results.
  • Proficient with data analysis tools, languages, and methodologies such as SAS, SQL, Tableau, Python, Power BI, MS PowerApps, Azure, and cloud computing. Familiarity with CIBC data sources, applications, and system platforms is an asset.
