Boeing Canada Winnipeg is seeking a Maintenance Assistant reporting to the Facilities Manager, working out of the Winnipeg, Manitoba office on Evening or Midnight shift as assigned.
As a Maintenance Assistant, you will perform a variety of tasks to keep our facility and grounds in excellent condition, supporting the Maintenance Mechanic, HVAC Mechanic, and Maintenance Electrician in their daily work and independently completing assigned projects as needed. This hands-on role involves routine maintenance, basic repairs, preventive upkeep, and assistance with specialized maintenance activities, contributing to a safe, functional, and well-maintained workplace. Ideal candidates are dependable, detail-oriented, and able to follow directions and safety procedures while working both collaboratively and alone.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Repair, replace or clean clogged, corroded, leaky or broken plumbing systems
  • Lubricate fabrication and facilities equipment, motors, etc.
  • Drain, clean and fill reservoirs with lubricants or coolants
  • Observe condition and operation of equipment and report irregularities
  • Clean or empty dust collection systems, and filters for plant and equipment
  • Repair, maintain, or clean plant lighting, shelving, walls, and floors
  • Paint walls, ceilings, floors, tools, pipes, boxes, shelving, etc.
  • Cut and bend pipe to proper dimensions
  • Assist higher classified employees in various maintenance and construction functions
  • Obtain and deliver material and equipment to proper location
  • Clean up area and equipment after completion of job
  • Work from diagrams, prints, specifications or verbal orders
  • Use hand tools, powered tools and shop equipment
  • Maintain service records
  • Excavate ditches and foundations
  • Mix paints and colors not involving critical matching
  • Set up and remove scaffolding
  • Assists routing maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment
  • Clear snow and ice from walkways, emergency exits and entrances including loading docks
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment related to groundskeeping
  • Operate lift equipment including forklifts, man lifts, scissor lifts, and plant vehicles

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • 1+ years of experience with facilities site maintenance
  • Experience driving a forklift or be willing to be trained and certified
  • Must have a valid driver license
  • Must be able to wear Fall Protection equipment
  • Must be able to pass respirator fit test
  • Must be able meet the physical requirements of this job which include constant standing and walking, frequent bending at the waist, twisting, pushing/pulling, and occasional kneeling, shoveling, working outdoors in all weather and lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment medical exam
  • Ability to work evening shift and/or midnight shift as assigned
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada
  • Must be eligible to handle US export-controlled data

Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience):
  • Previous training in Confined space, fall protection, forklift, and aerial lift experience.
  • Familiarity with electrical safety systems: lockout/tagout (LOTO),
  • Demonstrate ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet production deadlines.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Preventive maintenance program execution, CMMS experience (e.g., Maximo, SAP, e-Maint)
  • Previous work experience in general painting aircraft, automotive, industrial, or general surfaces

Additional Information:
This requisition is for a locally hired position in Canada. The employer is Boeing Canada. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Benefits and pay are determined by Canada and are not on Boeing US-based payroll. This is not an expatriate assignment.
