What you'll be doing

You will be joining the Enterprise Technology team in CIBC. As an Mainframe application developer,  you will be responsible for the detailed technical design and development of applications using SAS (our applications are 80% SAS), COBOL, JCL on MAINFRAME Platform. The role helps in troubleshoots issues for all levels, performs tasks of technical depth and breadth, utilizing a solid understanding of business dynamics to conduct impact analysis and provide feedback on problems with recommended solutions The role uses judgement and autonomy on day-to-day tasks, exercising considerable latitude to conduct data source analysis and negotiate with users regarding requirements. This role requires 24/7 support on rotation.

How you'll succeed

  • Programming Skills - Develop, code and test end-to-end of applications. Review, analyze, and modify programming systems, including coding, testing, and debugging.
  • Systems Implementation - Participate and conduct technical design, development, and integration of cross functional, multi-platform application systems.
  • Troubleshooting and Technical Skills – Work closely with key business and technology partners to ensure that business and client impact issues are well understood and addressed. Ensure adherence to all regulatory and information security standards and policies are maintained in all aspects of the application management. Provide technical guidance concerning business implications of application development projects
  • Relationship Management - Build strong relationships and partnerships with technical team members, clients, vendors and peers.  Lead discussions, listen and ask the right questions to ensure problems/issues are identified and resolved. Express oneself and communicate with others verbally at an advanced level; recognizing that verbal communication is more than just language - it includes tone, style and structure.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate good mainframe development experience using SAS. You have 2+ years of experience as an Application Developer/Support and Integration Specialist wearing multiple hats to help support internal clients. You must have good knowledge and understanding year of Software Development Life Cycle, good understanding of Mainframe programing languages like SAS, JCL, COBOL. You have experience in application production support including logical thinking, organizational and troubleshooting skills. You have the ability to manage relationships with technology and business partners to ensure the systems and processes supporting the applications are operating effectively and efficiently.
  • You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field of study.
