Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and analytical Logistics Planner to join our operations team at Avenir Energy. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating outbound propane deliveries to ensure customer orders are fulfilled safely, efficiently, and on time.

The Logistics Planner plays a critical role in optimizing the use of trucks and drivers while maintaining high levels of customer service and operational efficiency. This role requires strong technical skills and the ability to effectively utilize back-office systems and routing technology to develop daily delivery plans and monitor operational performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Delivery Planning and Routing:

  • Plan and optimize daily propane delivery routes for drivers and trucks.

  • Balance delivery demand with fleet capacity, driver availability, and geographic constraints.

  • Communicate daily delivery plans clearly with drivers and operations teams.

  • Manage operational exceptions such as urgent deliveries, runout risk, weather impacts, equipment issues, and driver or vehicle availability changes.

Operational Coordination:

  • Work closely with branch operations, drivers, and customer service teams to ensure deliveries are completed on time.

  • Monitor delivery progress and adjust routes as needed to address operational challenges.

  • Proactively identify risks that may impact deliveries and implement corrective actions.

Performance Monitoring:

  • Track logistics KPIs such as on-time delivery, runout rates, delivery efficiency, driver utilization, and service performance.

  • Conduct basic analysis to identify opportunities to improve routing efficiency and reduce delivery costs.

  • Support ongoing improvements to delivery planning processes.

Customer Service Support:

  • Communicate proactively with customers when delivery changes or issues arise.

  • Work with internal teams to resolve delivery challenges quickly and professionally.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to improve delivery efficiency, reduce operational waste, and enhance customer service.

  • Support operational improvements related to routing, delivery scheduling, and driver productivity.

  • Utilize data to support future planning, including seasonal demand forecasting for trucks and drivers.

Fleet and Driver Coordination:

  • Coordinate with operations teams to schedule vehicle maintenance or service when required.

  • Assist with driver scheduling to ensure adequate delivery coverage.

  • Support drivers in resolving delivery or system-related issues.

Qualifications:

Education: Post-secondary education in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.

Experience: 2+ years of experience in logistics, dispatch, or supply chain operations.

Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with drivers, operations teams, and leadership.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and logistics or routing software.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment and manage competing priorities.

  • Strong aptitude for working in ERP, dispatch, routing, and tank monitoring systems, with the ability to interpret operational data and translate it into actionable delivery plans.
