Job Description

Our Programme Advisory team specialises in the strategy, set-up and transformation of major programmes and asset owning enterprises within the transport, defence, utilities, and power sectors in the UK and internationally.

The Opportunity 

We are looking for enthusiastic, talented, and proactive individuals to join our Programme Integration team to deliver a major nuclear new build programme. A robust, integrated and future-ready logistics approach is required. The logistics function must build upon proven industry practices and existing operational experience to ensure that the right resources are delivered to the right location at the right time, maximising project productivity, safety and efficiency.

Support is required to:

  • Understand the proposed approach for delivering the new power station, including procurement routes, contractor strategies and delivery models, and identify how logistics can enable programme success.
  • Develop a comprehensive logistics strategy that supports safe and efficient delivery operations while enhancing resilience, sustainability and productivity.
  • Define detailed logistics requirements needed to support future operations, organisational structures and delivery plans, ensuring alignment with broader programme objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership and logistics expertise throughout project development and delivery.

Role Purpose

The Logistics Lead will be responsible for developing, integrating and championing logistics across a major Canadian nuclear new build project.

The role will ensure that logistics considerations are embedded within engineering, design, programme, procurement and construction planning activities from the earliest stages of project development. Working across a complex stakeholder environment, the Logistics Lead will establish the logistics vision, delivery principles and implementation roadmap required to support the safe, efficient and timely delivery of a nationally significant infrastructure programme.

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership across all aspects of construction logistics, including material flows, workforce logistics, heavy transport, marine and rail logistics, offsite manufacturing integration, laydown requirements and supply chain optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

Logistics Strategy & Planning

  • Develop the programme-wide logistics strategy and delivery roadmap.
  • Define logistics requirements, constraints, risks and opportunities.
  • Develop logistics solutions covering material flows, workforce logistics, logistics systems, transport and storage.
  • Establish site logistics, consolidation, compound and delivery management requirements.
  • Define system requirements to provide end-to-end visibility of logistics activities
  • Develop Construction Logistics Plans (CLPs) and traffic management approaches.

Design & Programme Integration

  • Ensure logistics requirements are embedded within design, engineering and programme development.
  • Review designs from a buildability and deliverability perspective.
  • Support construction sequencing, phasing and site establishment planning.
  • Promote DfMA, modularisation and offsite manufacturing opportunities.
  • Assess heavy lift, abnormal load and specialist transport requirements.

Supply Chain & Delivery

  • Work with procurement and delivery teams to develop integrated supply chain logistics solutions.
  • Define material flow strategies from supplier to site.
  • Assess road, rail, marine and port logistics opportunities.
  • Evaluate storage, consolidation and laydown requirements.
  • Support selection of logistics providers and delivery solutions.

Risk & Stakeholder Management

  • Identify and mitigate logistics, programme and supply chain risks.
  • Engage with regulators, authorities and key stakeholders.
  • Support planning, environmental and permitting activities.
  • Provide logistics advice to programme leadership and project teams.

Leadership

  • Act as the programme logistics subject matter expert.
  • Lead logistics consultants and specialist advisers.
  • Establish governance, reporting and assurance processes.
  • Support capability development within the team.

Qualifications

  • Proven logistics leadership experience on major infrastructure, energy, nuclear or industrial projects.
  • Experience developing logistics strategies for complex construction programmes.
  • Strong understanding of construction planning, sequencing and site operations.
  • Experience integrating logistics into design and programme development.
  • Knowledge of DfMA, modular construction and offsite manufacturing.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Nuclear new build experience. (desirable)
  • Understanding of nuclear regulatory environments. (desirable)
  • Experience of rail, marine, heavy lift or oversized load logistics. (desirable)
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments. (desirable)
