Job Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
The Lifeguard at Simeon Park is responsible for teaching swimming lessons and overseeing recreational swimming activities to ensure the safety of all patrons. Additionally, Lifeguards will assist as Park Attendants, maintaining park grounds, running recreational programs and activities, and providing guest services.
Major Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of all swimmers by monitoring pool activities and enforcing pool rules.
  • Provide swim instruction to children, helping them improve their swimming skills and water safety knowledge. This includes skill testing, creating and following lesson plans, completing worksheets, and processing awards.
  • Conduct regular pool checks, including water quality testing and equipment inspections and general upkeep.
  • Maintain Park grounds, including painting, lawn mowing, trimming, garbage collection, and cleaning indoor facilities.
  • Operate machinery and perform additional general labor as required.
  • Perform daily housekeeping of the pool office and pavilion.


Recreation Programs/Activities:

  • Organize weekend activities for guests (e.g., lawn games, bingo, trivia).
  • Officiate soccer and slo-pitch games.


Guest Services:

  • Assist with Gatehouse operations, including processing payments, admitting guests, and directing them to booking locations.
  • Manage party bookings and reservations.
  • Handle rentals and purchases.
  • Process guest memberships.
  • Assist guests with their belongings and accommodate guests with disabilities.
  • Answer telephone and email inquiries, providing information about the park, including rules, programs, amenities, services, and events.


Skills and Competencies Required:

  • National Lifeguard Certification (NLS)
  • Swim Instructor Certification
  • First Aid & CPR-C Certification


Knowledge and Education:

  • Must be enrolled in a university or college program.


Work Experience:

  • Prior experience as a Lifeguard is an asset.


Work Environment:

  • Park hours are Tuesday to Friday, 12 PM to 9 PM, and Weekends, 9 AM to 9 PM.
  • Outdoor work environment, requiring the ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Must be available to work weekends and all holidays of the summer season.
  • 40 hours per week with rotating shifts (9 AM - 6 PM or 12 PM - 9 PM), with availability to work overtime if required.
  • Time off requests must be submitted 2 weeks in advance for scheduling purposes.
    • Note: time off requests on weekends may be limited to one weekend for the entire summer; it is preferable to book your eligible time off during weekdays.
