Relay is a digital banking platform that gives self-made business owners the tools and know-how to be great with money—bringing clarity, confidence, and control to every dollar earned, so they can turn hard work into lasting success. We do this by replacing financial guesswork with real visibility, transforming cash flow from a constant source of stress into a clear signal owners can use to run stronger, more resilient businesses.

As a Lifecycle Marketing Intern, you will report to the Senior Lifecycle Marketing Manager and support the delivery of communications across all stages of the customer lifecycle. You’ll help execute campaigns across email, push notifications, SMS, and in-app messaging, spanning acquisition, onboarding, engagement, retention, and re-activation.

This is a highly collaborative role that works cross-functionally with Product Marketing, Product Growth, Content Marketing, Design, Data Analytics, Compliance, and Customer Support to create a seamless end-user experience. You'll get hands-on experience with industry-leading tools and real ownership of campaigns that impact business outcomes.

We're looking for a motivated self-starter who is eager to learn, comfortable working with data, and passionate about supporting the success of small businesses.

Please Note: The start date for this role will be May 11, 2026 and the end day will be August 28th, 2026.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Build, QA, and launch lifecycle campaigns across email, push, SMS, and in-app channels using Iterable and Chameleon.

  • Set up audience segmentation and dynamic content using business logic, behavioral triggers, and data synced through Hightouch.

  • Support the creation and optimization of lifecycle campaigns that guide customers through key moments, from first sign-up through onboarding, product activation, and ongoing engagement.

  • Maintain and improve campaign documentation in Notion, including lifecycle journey maps, experiment specs, and performance logs.

  • Pull and interpret campaign performance data (open rates, CTR, conversions, product adoption) to surface insights and recommend next steps.

  • Support campaign calendar management across channels to ensure all communications are properly scheduled, reviewed, and launched on time.

  • Streamline and improve operational processes: template setup, copy/creative loading, tracking parameters, and QA checklists.

  • Conduct competitor research and industry trend analysis to inform lifecycle improvements and bring fresh ideas to the team.

  • Collaborate with Product Growth, Data, and Engineering to ensure audience accuracy, trigger reliability, and event instrumentation.

Who You Are:

  • New graduate or currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.

  • Eager to learn lifecycle marketing: email best practices, customer journeys, segmentation, audience-building, and multi-channel orchestration (Push, SMS, In-app).

  • Strong attention to detail, especially when working with data, QA-ing campaigns, and reviewing copy for accuracy.

  • Clear and proactive written and verbal communication skills. You can write a concise Slack update and a thorough Notion doc with equal ease.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and cross-functionally towards a shared goal.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment without dropping the ball.

  • Naturally curious. You love to understand the 'why' behind a problem or question and you aren't afraid to dig deep into problem-solving.

  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly adapt to new tools and processes.

Bonus points:

  • Experience with marketing automation platforms (Iterable, Braze, Klaviyo, HubSpot, Marketo, or similar).

  • Comfort using AI/LLM tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) for drafting copy, brainstorming, summarizing data, or accelerating workflows.

  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS for emails (editing existing templates)

  • Understanding of CRM systems and customer data management.

  • Interest in fintech, SaaS, or SMB growth strategies.

  • Familiarity with A/B testing, campaign optimization concepts, and performance metrics.

The Interview Process:

Stage 1: A 30-minute Google Meet video call with the Hiring Manager

Stage 2: A lifecycle case study presentation (provided in advance) in a 30-minute Google Meet video call with the Hiring Manager and a Lifecycle team member

Stage 3: A 30-minute Google Meet video call with the Director, Lifecycle Marketing

Our Compensation Approach

We believe Relayers should feel rewarded for the impact they have on our mission and growth. Compensation follows impact. As impact increases, compensation grows, and we do not limit compensation changes to a once-a-year review cycle.

The compensation for this role is between $25/hr to $30/hr CAD.

We encourage you to have a conversation with your recruiter and ask questions about compensation throughout the hiring process. For more information on our compensation philosophy and perks and benefits, visit our Candidate Hub.

Why Relay Might Be the Perfect Fit For You

  • You push relentlessly for reinvention: You’re built to constantly ask, “How can this be better?” Change excites you and you drive it.

  • You crave autonomy: We trust our team with big challenges and the freedom to solve them. If you’re someone who takes initiative, is comfortable taking risks, and seeks input when needed, you’ll find the freedom here empowering.

  • You own your work: You take pride in your work, follow through on commitments, and feel a deep sense of responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks.

  • You treat comfort as a red flag: You seek growth. When things feel too comfortable, you lean into change. You’re excited about  stepping into the unknown and navigating new terrain to create something better alongside your team.

  • You care about impact, not noise: You care deeply about the substance of your work. You measure success by results, not recognition and you let your work speak for itself.

  • You’re energized by complexity and ambiguity: You enjoy tackling problems that don’t come with a playbook. You’re comfortable building from scratch, iterating as you go, and collaborating to shape the best path forward.

  • You seek out feedback: We value directness, clarity, and respect. We believe honesty fuels great work and career growth. You see feedback as a tool for learning and improvement, and you know that open, honest dialogue is key to achieving the best results — together.

  • You’re here for more than a job: At Relay, everything we do is in service of our mission to help small businesses thrive. To drive impact and have purpose here, that mission must matter to you too.

At Relay, we believe that diversity is key to building high-performing teams, and creating an inclusive work environment is our priority. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and skills.
