About this PositionPrimerica, Inc. (NYSE:PRI) is a financial services company offering term life insurance and investment products to families across North America. The Canadian subsidiary, Primerica Financial Services (Canada) Ltd. Currently has several operating companies including a Life Insurance Company, a Mutual Fund Dealer and a Mutual Fund Manager. We are currently looking for a motivated lawyer to join our team in Mississauga.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Self-starter with superior organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Lawyer in good standing with Law Society of Ontario;
  • 1 - 3 years’ experience working in financial services; experience with mutual fund manager, dealer and/or life insurance regulation preferred
  • Experience with traditional and digital (online) marketing and advertising regulation would be an asset.

Responsibilities include:

  • Marketing and promotional material review
  • Review and drafting of contracts, agreements, public facing and internal policies and procedures  
  • Review and preparing of investment, regulatory filings and related documentation
  • Assist with Corporate Secretarial duties including the administration and conduct of Board and related Committee meetings
  • Regulatory risk management, policy development and review
  • Keep informed of relevant legal developments as they occur and analyzing their applicability to the company’s objectives, as well as keeping Senior Counsel and Senior management abreast.
  • Assist the Compliance department with the review, assessment and application of regulatory provisions and revisions as well as providing support in the preparation for audits performed by internal and external auditors and regulators.
  • Other duties as assigned depending on ongoing operational requirements

The above responsibilities may vary from greater or lesser degrees depending upon the skill set, experience and education of the successful candidate.   Reporting may change from time to time but will always be under the ultimate supervision of the General Counsel.
