Lead Scientist
Salary: $177200 to $190000 per year
Location: Evanston, IL and various, unanticipated locations throughout the United States.

Job Role and Responsibility: Conduct research using bioinformatics theory and methods in pharmaceuticals. Work within ZS's Discovery - Medical & Scientific Expertise Center to help clients reinvent pharma discovery, elucidate disease biology, innovate novel therapeutics, and accelerate drug development to create breakthrough science and increase the probability of R&D success and patient outcomes; Accelerate transformation in research and early development so clients can build capabilities in programmable biology across therapeutic modalities; Evaluate, provide, and correct suggestions on other team members' scientific and analytical work; Mentor and coach subordinate team members; Help to train others in making the best use of tools and techniques by being a team expert in a specific technique or instrument; Prioritize decisions as shown by being able to describe how early experimental results were used to prioritize subsequent experiments and describe how they prioritized multiple team or project tasks; Communicate scientific innovation or discovery in layman terms as shown through articles or presentations in non-scientific venues and able to speak about a multi-disciplinary project or problem; and Gather and prioritize requirements and asks from clients and multi-disciplinary teams as shown. May be required to relocate to work at various, unanticipated locations throughout the United States due to the nature of the organization's business and based on client need.
Job Type: Full-time, 9am - 6pm, 40 hours a week, Monday - Friday

Qualifications: Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a biopharmaceutical research-related occupation. Alternatively, will accept a Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a biopharmaceutical research-related occupation.
Position requires the following experience:
1. Managing end-to-end projects;
2. Consulting experience;
3. Client-facing experience, including building and managing client relationships for business development;
4. Leading/mentoring teams;
5. Communicating research results in non-scientific venues;
6. Drug design and development; and
7. Experimental design and biometrics.
