ROLE OBJECTIVES
- Establish Takeda as a trusted, collaborative partner among key external stakeholders in the private payer landscape
- Responsible for developing and implementing national private payer strategies aimed at achieving, enhancing and maintaining private insurance coverage for Takeda products.
- Responsible for working collaboratively with internal cross functional partners to lead private payer strategies
Accountabilities
- Develops and maintains productive relationships with national/regional private and Federal payers and stakeholders; including PBMs, benefit consultants, employers, insurers and plan managers.
- Establishes and maintains a comprehensive understanding of all stakeholder/customer needs, value drivers and systems/processes.
- Influences and advises key stakeholders and decision-makers on policy directions that impact Takeda's private payer plans and strategies.
- Tracks private payer policy and environmental trends to ensure Takeda's products are properly positioned for optimal private plan access.
- Proactively communicates changes in the private payer environment to establish Takeda's leadership; anticipates and advises on private payer issues and recommends strategies to address potential opportunities and market challenges to enable Takeda to attain business goals in the changing environment.
- In collaboration and partnership with internal colleagues, develops short and long- term strategic approaches to influence and shape private insurance plan designs, ensuring that listing decisions provide optimal access to Takeda medications.
- Develops and executes private and Federal payor strategies and tactical plans, and develops and negotiates product listing agreements to secure optimal access.
- Provides strategic input into clinical programs to ensure the needs and requirements of private payers are addressed early in development.
- Develops and implements a data generation plan, incorporating clinical development and market research to predict and address the future evidence requirements for private payers.
- Monitors outcomes against measurable objectives and indicators e.g. media coverage, social media conversations, content analysis, website analytics and communicates outcomes to third party payers that outline the therapeutic and economic benefits of Takeda's products.
- Represents Takeda on industry association committees (i.e. IMC) to inform and shape policy related to private and Federal payers.
EDUCATION AND/OR Experience
- Significant experience in the pharmaceutical/health care industry with a minimum of 7 years direct experience in market access.
- Strong understanding of current pharmaceutical industry, private payer and market access environment.
- Degree in the Health Sciences, Pharmacy, or Business preferred.
- Demonstrated process and technical expertise in third- party reimbursement processes.
- Bilingual (French, English) is an asset for this role.
Key Capabilities
- In- depth knowledge and understanding of the pharmaceutical environment and industry in Canada.
- Extensive knowledge of private payers sector, including benefit consultants and pharmacy benefit managers.
- In- depth knowledge of Federal plans, legislation and regulations impacting private payer environment.
- Understanding of the specialty pharma business model and the overall healthcare environment. Demonstrated knowledge or awareness of patient SUPPORT programs and their impact on private payers.
- Ability to quickly analyze complex issues, identify potential risks and opportunities and communicate the analysis and recommendation in a clear and concise manner
- Excellent interpersonal presentation and communication skills. Strong oral and written communication to analyze complex issues/positions and quickly provide a succinct, concise brief and recommendation to senior management
- Ability to effectively translate clinical evidence to a scientific value proposition in order to address the unmet needs of the payer.
- Strong track record of influential and negotiation skills

- Proficient in Microsoft Office
